My husband and I stayed here 3 times during our honeymoon around Thailand (our base as we went to different areas), all 3 times in different rooms.
The location was awesome, it was so easy to get to the beach and main street, yet tucked away enough to be quiet, and raised enough to have a lovely view and staggered layout. The hotel is built around a series of staggered pools and gardens, each room having a verandah overlooking this. Very pretty.
The higher floors definitely have the best view out to the sea (some of the lower floors do not), however they are more of a distance away from the entrance (2 elevators, and a walk between of about 80m along a corridor). We didn't find it bad, but the elderly, people wanting to have a lazy holiday, or people with mobility concerns may. The main entrance is also up a fairly steep concrete hill.
Each room was really nice and modern, with concrete floors, a big TV, a nice bed and a really spacious shower. It was mostly clean, except the curtains always had grubby stains on them, and once or twice the pillows and towels had stains. Otherwise really nicely maintained, especially the bathrooms.
On one of our stays we were upgraded to a pool access room. Although the room itself was bigger, I actually did not prefer it myself. The rooms are lower (in order to access the pool) and therefore do not have as good sea views, and we spent our time there with the neighboring children swimming in front of our verandah. May be good for someone with kids, but not so great if you are looking for a quiet stay, or want a quiet drink/read on the verandah, etc. It also meant we had to have the curtains shut almost the whole time to have a sleep, privacy, etc, as the kids were right outside. Again, this may be great if you have kids that are really social. I would recommend the rooms without pool access on a higher floor :)
The only downsides: the air conditioning was an issue each time (in each room) that we stayed here (maybe despite the dial they might be automatic?). The one night that we set it to 15 degrees it finally read around 23, which was good ;) It might make it hard for some heat sensitive people to sleep.
Also, the staff are really not very friendly, quite noticeably compared to many other Thai hotels we stayed in on our trip. However, once you're in your room it doesn't matter too much. Also, the staff we spoke to on our visits did not have very good English, and we had difficulty asking for things like another towel, or for a bowl and spoon, etc.
The rooms did not have an iron, we had to ask for this when we needed it. This may not be a problem for some, but it was difficult for the girly part of me ;)
The breakfast had good variety (cereal, rice dishes, fry up, an egg station, pastries, juices, and so forth), but each day the quality of the food was not so good; much of it was over/under cooked, very oily, left cold, coffee run out and not refilled, etc. It was convenient, but it would have been more fun to find breakfast elsewhere.
One cool thing, one of the standard rooms we stayed in had the bathtub on the verandah instead of in the bathroom, which was nice as you could see out to the beach. Not all the rooms had this though, so you would need to ask specifically.
Overall, without the breakfast and with a room on a high floor, I would definitely stay here again, very modern and stylish, and a great location :)
Room Tip: The higher floors have the best view.
