“Lovely hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We booked this hotel late on lastminute.com and got a very good deal. The hotel has obviously been recently refurbished to a high standard. The rooms albeit a bit on the small side, are clean well appointed and warm. ( it was -0.5 degC outside ) the night we stayed.
The dinner was extremely well presented and tasted delicious.
Breaklfast was very good and the English Breakfast was huge.
It seemed a nice village and the hotel itself looked beautiful, but because it was so cold we didnt venture very far.

“Just one word - Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

As the title suggests, amongst a number of words and phrases, nothing quite sums-up the hotel than excellent - though this review is based entirely on the quality of food and staff.

We viewed this hotel Saturday 28 Jan 2012 as a possible place to stay for ourselves and our guests when we marry later this year in a local venue.

At £150 for a Saturday night, the rooms do seem to be a little pricey especially as the decor though nothing too bad, could do with a little attention - as we were only viewing, I cannot comment on the particulars of the room, though in common with most, the price does include breakfast which if it was anything like our lunch shall more than make up for it.

As we were only sampling, we decided that the 2-courses for £11.95 lunch-time menu would be a good place to start as these foods are often at the lower-end of the quality scale - oh how we were wrong (at least with this establishment anyway).

Upon being seated, the table was already set for two courses with preparation for bread and oils for which once our order had been placed, a waiter arrived promptly with a selection of breads after which a pot (roughly 400g) of pitted green olives was also served.

Upon being seated, our drinks order was promptly taken and despite being a busy Saturday lunch with at least four other tables, arrived in moments during which-time our food order was taken.

We opted for mains and desserts: Salmon with Sauteed vegetables and Fettuccini with peas, spinach and roasted red-pepper for mains and Creme Brulee and Apricot Bread and Butter pudding for dessert.

The mains arrived within 20 mins and was to die for; the thoughtful waiting staff had also addressed my pasta choice by altering the cutlery to suit.

The young and on-the-ball waiting staff also realised when we had finished and promptly cleared our table; upon ordering, the desserts were delivered within 10 mins and they like the mains were of an excellent quality though be warned of the apparent error on the menu - the creme brule is to be accompanied by shortbread biscuits whereas only one was delivered.

A quick trip to the toilet confirmed our thoughts when following the old adage of: "Never eat in an establishment without first checking the cleanliness of the toilets" - they too were very clean and well stocked.

On the whole, a very enjoyable lunch despite the apparent busy-ness of a Saturday lunch, total order:

1 x Grilled Salmon with Sauté Potatoes, Spinach, Glazed Carrots and Garlic Butter
1 x Fettuccine Pasta with Roasted Tomatoes, Pesto Cream Sauce and Garlic Bread
1 x Vanilla Créme Brulee and Shortbread Biscuits
1 x Apricot Glazed Bread and Butter Pudding and Custard
1 x 250ml glass Chile - Caliterra Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot
1 x half-pint Youngs Bitter

Total Price £30.80

Room Tip: Rooms in the 'old-part' of the hotel are at the front and feature exposed beams whereas thos...

“Great service - worth staying for!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

We chose this hotel to meet friends at for a weekend. We got a great deal that included champagne cream tea and a 3 course meal. The food was fantastic, 4 different meals and no complaints. Locally sourced produce definitely adds flavour to the fantastic cooking. Breakfast was also very impressive and beautifully presented. We were very well looked after by the manager Paul, Kim and the very lovely Gary (it's worth staying just to share banter with him!), nothing was too much trouble and we felt very welcomed and valued. We will definitely be staying again and would recommend this to anyone at any time of the year. The hotel also threw in a discount card for Bicester village so lots of added value!

My husband and I booked this hotel through dealcloud and took my mother and father in law. The deal in itself was fantastic value. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and couldn't do enough for you, the rooms were amazing and the food was superb. Special mention must go to Gary who was fantastic. The banter he had with us really made our stay. Thank you! We are all hoping to be back in the near future.
