“So good to see the Fountain back up and running properly!”

I have been a visitor to the Fountain for 30 years on an off and have seen good times and bad.Recently called in for an evening meal with my Son - wonderful!
The Landlord was helpful and made us feel very welcome - the food, well that was first class - service was first class ~ there is a nice feeling there once again ~ we will certainly be back ~ being local it is good news to see this Pub in good, safe hands again.
I do not believe some of the other comments left on here by some reviewers - the good ones are the ones to believe.
Well done!

“21st Party venue and all family stop over. Great place to visit”

We booked our daughters 21st birthday party at the fountain Inn, the pub provided the food and the DJ, we also booked 5 rooms for family to stay over. We had been a little apprehensive given some of the reviews, however we were not dissapointed and had a thoroughly great evening. The staff were attentive and could not have been more helpful. I would describe the landlord as down to earth and approachable. We had no problems, if you are looking for dull, characterless surroundings go elsewhere. The rooms were lovely and cosy, clean and well stocked. The breakfast was lovely, could have eaten more though.
I am in no way affiliated or related to any member of staff or this pub, this review is independent. Good luck to the pub and staff for the future

“Very good food!”

I've been a local at the Fountain for over 30 years and have seen it go from good to bad then to good again on several occasions (a very chequered history over the last 15 years in particular, with sudden closures and some incompetent tenants)! However, it's now definitely good and improving, at least from the drinks and meals point of view (never stayed there). Since David and his team came in mid-2011 I've dined there several times and been pleasantly surprised by the food quality/quantity on each occasion. Have taken friends and family there as well, who have been equally happy. One slight downside - the staff don't always provide a full pint of handpulled beer, probably owing to lack of training, and one doesn't like to complain too much (even though buying more than half an inch of froth isn't good economics)!! Anyway, I'll continue dining there unless something goes wrong (It really is hard to understand the poor reviews on this site).

Room Tip: Didn't stay overnight

I do think a member of staff wrote the previous review .
Trying to big up a sinking ship.
The titanic was sunk by a big iceberg ,(DAVID is the iceberg).
And his chef the burger king babe lol.
So stop living in dreamland hand the pub back and let a real team take over.
Oh and your soup was not that on sunday day dreamers
Your disgusting your food is sickly.
I will never eat there again

“Not to be missed. Total Satisfaction. The A Team!!!”

Many thanks to David and the staff for a wonderfull meal. Cooked superbly, served within a reasonable time. Just time to get the 1st drink down and the starter was on the table (Wild Mushroom soup x 4 beautifull !!! Just like mother used to make.) Coming from Emley i've picked enough of those and these were fresh (field mushrooms).

Main course was just as good, sirloin steak in a pepper sauce, crunchy seasonable vegetables. They even put me mashed potatoes instead of chips, the steak was cooked to perfection just how i like it medium rare. The others had traditional Sunday lunch WHAT A TREAT!!! Will definately go again..

Many Thanks. You won't need to find us we'll be back.
