“Spot on, its all you need”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Myself and my 2 brothers needed a place to stay whilst attending our uncles funeral, what a godsend the Mercury was. My brother is blind and uses a guide dog and the hotel did'nt have a problem with it at all, in fact they told the audience for the quiz night to watch out for the dog so as not to trip over him. Not only was it very reasonably priced but the owners and the staff could'nt do enough for you. The rooms are basic but are comfortable and clean (if you want plush go and pay for an expensive hotel). The night we stayed was a quiz night and the hands on owners who were doing the quiz still had time to see to our needs. All in all a great place to stay and next time were up that way guess where we'll be staying.

“Comfortable with Great Hosts and a Bar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

I use many hotels in the area as I travel up fortnightly to see my kids. I stumbled upon The Mercury and will be staying here again for sure. The hosts and staff will do anything to make your stay comfortable, the rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable and the nightlife in the bar is really welcome with a good selection of beers and drinks at....as a Londoner.....very reasonable prices. There is a real family feel to this hotel and as someone who spends alot of time in transit this really feels like home.

I would thoroughly recommend a stay here it is a reall little gem!

“Would highly recommend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

We hired a function room at the Mercury Hotel for our first vintage fair. From the beginning the staff and owners at the hotel were very helpful and let us visit the function room several times and ask yet more questions. We had the fair yesterday and couldn't be more pleased. We arrived at 10am to set the room up and the owner helped us move the tables to anywhere we wanted, he let us use his projector screen and also put on food. The food was lovely. Stallholders at the fair were happy with the staff who provided more tables and sorted out the lighting so everyone was happy. Visters to the fair commented that the venue was easy to find and that the function room looked lovely. After such a great experience we have decided to host another vintage fair at the Mercury on 4th December. We would advise anyone looking for a venue, meal or a bed to come to the Mercury. Great place, lovely staff and very friendly owners. Thank you once again

“Extremely good value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011

Really friendly owners and staff and extremely good value, Bed was very comfortable so we slept very well. Had the full breakfast also very good and very filling well worth the £5.00.

We were attending another function but would have happily stayed for the African night as it looked great fun (we did catch half an hour when we got back).

We would definitely stay at the Mercury again, who cares what it looks like outside, inside is clean and they have every thing you need for an overnight stay with the advantage of a real welcoming atmosphere.
