We actually did not stay at this place, but enjoyed a dinner in the cafe/restaurant. The views here are amazing, but the food could be just that wee bit better to bring it up to four stars.
Had the lovely southland lamb shank which was great and the food with it was good (although seriously make sure the peas are actually all ripe), but the gravy they used on this dish really ruined it. If ordering make sure you get the gravy on the side so you can adjust to your tastes in case you are like me and not enjoying the fake flavour of it. My husbands burger was adequate, good size, but nothing amazing.
Would eat here again. Enjoyed the local style of having numbers called, kinda of a cross between diner and restaurant.
The service probably needs the most work, with waitresses totally uninterested and rushed off their feet.
