My wife and I stayed two nights at this lovely B&B during our honeymoon in South Island, NZ. From the 3 or 4 rooms available, we chose the one with outstanding views of Lake Manapouri and a mountain range (Cathedral Peaks, I think) beyond.
The room was larger than the average hotel room and had a fair sized en-suite shower bathroom. Having driven about 2 hrs straight from Queenstown Airport to the B&B, we were grateful for a good night's rest in a very comfortable bed.
Our host, Janice, was so warm, friendly and helpful that we felt immediately at home. She served up a hearty breakfast each of the two mornings that we were there, and gave us little muffins for our day drive to Milford Sound.
If you're pushed for time or are feeling a little too relaxed (not hard to get this way with the spectacular views from the bedroom) to drive to Te Anau for dinner, there's always a pub meal from the Lakeview Motel just 2 mins walk north from the B&B.
Just 2-3 mins drive south from the B&B, is the departure centre for one of the major cruise operators in the area. This was in fact, one of the main reasons for us choosing to stay in this B&B. We were booked on an overnight cruise of Doubtful Sound and so wanted accommodation sufficiently close to avoid too early a start to join the cruise.
Lake Manapouri town itself is small, so you won't have as many shops, cafes or restaurants to serve your needs. You'll find these at Te Anau, 20 kms north. Other than this minor (if you have a car) drawback, the location of the B&B was ideal for our needs.
In summary, my wife and I felt Cathedral Peaks B&B was well worth the money spent. We even felt so positively about our stay that we've consistently mentioned Janice and her B&B as one of the highlights of our honeymoon trip!
