Due to Bhutan King's forthcoming wedding at Punakha in october 2011, all hotels were full and we were accomodated in Punatsangchu resort hotel, which was very good. The hotel by the riverside in the picturesque valley of Wangdi, is new with large clean rooms, good food and great hospitality. Indeed, a pleasant experience.

We stayed here for one night, I really wouldn't have wanted it to be longer. We had a room at the back that DIDN'T have a valley/river view. Instead we looked out over the car park which meant that we were woken very early in the morning by folks setting off for the next part of their journey. The room smelled of sewage and when we mentioned this we were merely told to plug the air freshener in. The combination of sewage and air freshener was unbearable. The bed was rock hard, but I slept OK as I was so tired from the day's sightseeing.
The food was the usual Bhutan servings, which we came to dread - blander than bland. Service was friendly but extremely slow and all the lights were switched off in the restaurant at about 8.45pm, which meant we couldn't even sit and have a drink and write our travel diary. Again, everywhere in Bhutan was like this...
As for the wonderful owner..... we certainly didn't meet her. I was glad to leave.

Had lunch and break at Punatsangchhu Cottages in a December forenoon during journey back to Thimphu. The location opened up like a discovery : quiet and abundant in vitality. My dining table brinked on the green lawn descending to the rippling blue river. I was purified by the golden sunlight and the mountain air playing all the time around. The food was good and homely. The serving attenants exuded a warm simplicity that created the atmosphere of a family. Ms Tshering, the owner and the overseeing conductor, evoked my gratitude with her farewell greeting. I wish to re-visit Wangdue and pass blissful time in the premises of the Cottages. It placed me in a fulfilment that awaits nothing more without being stagnant.

away from noise......silent, secluded and good place for having meetings and conferences..........have very good rooms.............but needs to put light in the corridors............the conference hall is very nice................proprietor is friendly..........motivated staffs and happy heart for all who visit it.......................Thanks
