“A very enjoyable stay!”

We stayed at East Ayton Lodge in December 2011 and had a lovely over-night stay.  The bar/lounge area is cosy and had a roaring wood-burner.  We enjoyed pre-meal drinks from their “country-style” bar before being invited into the elegant, linin-clad restaurant.  The food menu is extensive and would suit most tastes.  The food was fantastic value and was cooked beautifully – The Haddock is especially nice!!
Following the meal we retired to our room which over-looked the garden and was of a very good size, it even had a 4-poster bed, very good value for money.
The following morning we enjoyed a hearty breakfast and had a chat with the lady that was serving before checking out as very happy customers.  All of the staff were very helpful and friendly, and went all the way in making sure our stay was a success.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay near Scarborough but wants to avoid the hustle and bustle of the town centre.  The hotel is ideally placed for access to Scarborough, Pickering and the surrounding villages and boasts plenty of private car-parking.
Many thanks to all.

“UNLOVED !”

We have known this hotel and restaurant , then under it's original owners, since it had only three bedrooms and go back every now and then out of some kind of sentimentality.
Some of the staff have been there for years and it's nice to catch up with them but no matter how much effort the staff put into their jibs, without the loving hand of a resident owner, the place seems unloved and uncared for and it shows in the way it is becoming so very dilapidated . We don't care about flat screen TVs and multiple channels as long as the place is warm , clean, with good quality clean sheets and feels cared for but whatever charm the place had 15 years ago has gone - sadly , we now consign this hotel to just a lovely memory which we cannot recapture again - we won't go back, even for the chef's lovely food .

“Amazing”

We decided to have our Christmas wedding at east ayton lodge and it was the best day of our lives. From the moment we came to have a look around, we knew it was the perfect setting for our romantic day. The area and grounds were beautiful and spacious, we were able to get some stunning photographs of the local scenery. During the day, the staff made an effort to get to know all our guests by name and were able to respond to their individual needs. Each room was well equipped and spacious, especially the rooms which overlooked the gardens.
The food in particular was beautiful- having worried about the fussiness of some our guests- the chef can not be commended enough! Every meal and the breakfasts in the morning were beautiful.
I would highly recommend this venue for any romantic wedding, couples weekend or family getaway! Special thanks go to nikki, Adam and Justin for making this the best day of our lives

“hidden gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

Booked through laterooms and when checked in had an upgrade to a suite with four poster and lovely view over patio / lawned area. Yes there is a bit of mould in the shower area and decor a bit tired but there is a certain charm about this hotel that would encourage us to call again. Location good, only couple of miles from Scarborough. cracking pub just down the road, Denison Arms.

this must be the worst hotel i ever stayed in, me and my wife wanted a nice weekend away in scarbourgh, as soon as i arrived at the hotel we both knew we made a big mistake, not what we expected at all, a country hotel this is not. the hotel is a complete dump, the room was awful, something from 1970, so run down, worse night sleep i ever had, bed so uncomfortable, so shabby a room, on arrival was told if we wanted to eat, had to book a table, as it was so popular, we decided not to, went out instaed so glad we did, east ayton is a lovely area, and the rod from east ayton to pickering was a gorgeous area full of nice b&b's , nice pibs, hotels, pleny of places for a nice meal out, ended up gpoing for a nice indian meal in pickering was excellent.
so glad we had only booked one night, was so glad to leave. please dont book this hotel, plenty of other good ones i the area. dont waste your money coming here.
please avoid this hotel at all costs. i really hope booking. com drp them from there website.

Room Tip: just dont go here, go somewhere else
