“wonderfull”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2011

First of all, if you want a commercial Hotel, a cheap chambre d'hote or a (noisy ) 3 star camping, you should just do that.
But if you'r looking for something rustique, want to defragmentate your overloaded brain, searching for silence, nature and the real feeling of the french countryside, this mansion and campside is special. I stayed one day with a friend in the gite Mirabelle and thats a little 'house' on itself. It has a lovely kitchen and bye the way 2 bedrooms. We had also a 'chambre d'hote' in Belgium (€ 59,00 a night) a little bedroom and eventually, inclusive dinner and drinks of which we were dependent of the owners, we paid € 130,00. So what is value?
Me and my wife came back to the 'landscape'- camping and stayed there 3 days in a tent The outdoor shower is a must bye the way. She didn't know what to expect but now she's also 'touched' by this place. We love the quietness, and the feeling we get here.
Our breakfast was served in the garden....Wonderfull

“A real taste of Rural France”

A return visit to this delightful Manoir set deep in the French countryside.
We especially enjoyed our warm welcome, the champagne tastings, home cooked food, and the house labrador Hector who just enhanced the family and friendly atmosphere.
The hard working couple who look after guests could not have done any more to make our stay special and I cannot recommend this highly enough.

We're pleased you enjoyed your stay in Mirabelle Apartment and the DVD movies. Unlike a "hotel room" your 5 room apartment is fully equipped for self catering with kitchen, plates, cutlery, glasses, condiments etc & we deliver meals on a tray in foil containers piping hot ready for you to enjoy in your dining/living room. Everything you need is already provided both in your accommodation as well as a complete second set in your cupboard in reception should you wish to dine in the gardens.

“disappointing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 February 2011

After a busy day, we were so looking forward to the 'cosy' gite as recommended on this site, however it was bitterley cold dispite the wood burner and heating (we did know that the evenings would be cold so fortunately came prepared!)

Also the accomadations plumbing left a lot to be desired ... terrible scuffy repair job on the toilet wall and when the toilet was flushed the sink 'burped' dirty water up:(
I did mention this the hosts only to be told that the plumbing caused a vacuum causing the water out of the sink u bend to come back up, and that this was rustic life!!! I have lived in the sticks for many years and not encountered this before.

The whole apartment needed a good scrub, perhaps this is because we stayed out of season.

So sorry to read your review and that you didn't enjoy your stay, the evenings in February do tend to be a bit chilly here as they are in most places. We did explain that the toilet used a powerful electric "macerator" and does indeed cause a change in pressure as it is a pump, and the water "burp" is from the sink u-bend NOT from the toilet. The repair to the wall was due to having to remove the macerator because of previous misuse ( the flushing of wet wipes) which we also explained. Very surprised you found the cottage cold it was 20 degrees just before you arrived. We had the radiators on for a few days prior to your arrival to warm it up and had the fire going all day to ensure it was lovely and cosy for your arrival. The gite was clinically cleaned just before you arrived and nothing needed a good scrub. The original tiled floor is 200 years old however so has a lot of marks (wear and tear) but we think this is a positive rather than a negative. We welcome guests all year (and many over the winter months) so don't have an off season.

“Perfect Perfect Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 February 2011

Definitely one of the best places I have stayed in. The gite was gorgeous, large, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Grant and Sandra were the perfect hosts, knew everything there is to know about the area. We had Sandra's home cooked meals for dinner and breakfast, which was restaurant quality. Hector, the playful Labrador was adorable and kept my Golden Retriever very entertained indeed.
Overall, a wonderful experience. We felt like we were staying with friends rather than guests in a hotel.
Highly recommended.
