“Wonderful”

Simon and Christine are the perfect hosts and the old Manor is one of the nicest that we have stayed at. It is on a working deer farm with acres of beautiful grounds. Christine is the chef and she selects fresh foods daily and provides a wonderful menu selection. Even tho it is in the country, it is so restful and peaceful that you tend to forget that there are cities and towns very nearby. Tea at half four or five, cocktails at 1930 and dinner at 2000 ---- how civilized. The rooms are gorgeous, the service impeccable and the ambiance the best that you can find.

Room Tip: Don't worry---they are all wonderful.

From the time we booked until we checked out we were treated like friends and nothing was too much trouble. The house is steeped in character but unlike alot of old houses everything was spotless. We highly recommend.

“A home away from home - if your home is the most beautiful and romantic home in Ireland ....”

I stayed here with my now fiancé. I actually proposed to her here and with the help of the stunning, breath taking rooms, the blissfully relaxing feel of the place and the overwhelming welcome from the staff helped to ensure she said yes! (that and my charm, good looks and muscles etc....) we will definitely be back!

Unlike many Country House Hotels that are just hotels in the country this really is a house in the country. The family provide a warm welcome with very good accommodation and food and it ia away from it all. If you want night life or a busy bar its not for you; also as it is more a house in which you are guests then you must be prepared to meet and talk to your fellow guests.

Not having been to this part of Ireland which does not feature heavily on the tourist guides we were pleasantly surprised by the number if places to visit (there are also many guides in the lounge and Simon has local knowledge) although as with most tourist destinations in Ireland there are not very many indoor ones if the weather is bad.

“Coopershill is a very special place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

Coopershill in beautiful Co. Sligo is a magnificent Georgian house which has been occupied by the O'Hara family for seven generations. Simon O'Hara (and Alice the dog) welcomed us to his home and made us feel completely at home. Nothing was too much trouble. And he was a mine of information on the area.

There are just eight rooms, all very spacious with beautiful views from the windows. The whole house is furnished with antiques, many of them originals from when the house was built in the mid-1700s.

Christina is in charge of the kitchen, producing delicious food with many ingredients straight from the kitchen garden or Coopershill Farm - couldn't be fresher.

Coopershill is a very special place and I'm sure we'll be back there before too long.
