“This Property is Closed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

I arrived here after having had such a pleasant stay in 1984 with young children. I found the property closed. There was a uniformed security guard on the premises who allowed us to look around and reminisce. The property had great potential......I suspect that modern tastes have changed and this property no longer entices families. It was simply a little too primitive. The security guard told us that the property had been closed for about 9 months and was owned by "the bank". No point in describing more here. It would simply take too much money to put this place back into action.....no payback probable.

“This place is obviously now closed and in disrepair. ?Status”

Thought folks should know that this place is no longer open. We hoped to stay at this parador, but we stopped by to find that the property is presently unattended and falling into disrepair. It's really too bad because the setting is beautiful. There was no contact information anywhere on the property and no "se vende" signs either, so we couldn't find out any plans the owners might have for the future.

“It has some really good qualities...and some bad”

I stayed here in 2007 with my Puerto Rican girlfriend when we went to visit her famiy. Her parents got us a 2 nights stay. It was very quiet and rustic. The food was great and the outdoor eating area had a wonderful view of the mountains. There are some good walking trails for exploring. We both liked it a lot and I even asked her to marry me while staying there, so it was a very special stay. Fast forward to 2010, we decided to go there for another 2 nights stay. It was a little busier this time, but not too loud. The first night we ate, they didn't have my first few choices off the menu. The second night, we went to the resteraunt and it was locked. I asked they lady at the desk and she said that they weren't going to be open because they didn't have many guest. We were told to drive to one of the towns to find food. My wife and I both thought they could have warned us, as it was already late and hard to make last minute changes when you have a baby. The rooms were fairly dirty on that second stay as well. Although it will always be a special memory of our engagement, we will not be going back.

“Very Disappointed!”

My wife and I stayed at Hacienda Juanita in January of 2003, our stay then was very nice, service was great and the rooms were charming. We used the old side of the hacienda and loved it, no television no phones, we got exactly what we went there for, REST. Fast forward to our stay in September 2010. The rooms are in shambles; the beds feel like they are made of rock and the pillows feel like flat tires. Service was terrible, only one employee at night to handle the office and the restaurant. This hacienda is a beautiful place full of nature and history, but until the owners do something to bring it back to what it was a few years ago, I would not recommend it. You will waste your money.

“Perfect Example of Paradores from HELL!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2010

Just to clarify, I Live in Puerto Rico and have stayed in Motels, Hostels, Resorts, Hotels and Villas. For some time my wife planned a getaway for the both of us. and what better ocasion that my birthday!!, It was a surprise and my wife call them on friday. It was like an adeventure until we get to Hacienda Juanita next saturday. Then it was a nightmare. first the room published in the brochure and internet were not the same as advertise. we check the only 2 rooms available at the moment. both were filthy and the electric power does not work in the first one, the second still have clothes and stuff from somebody that was not in the room. Did I menthioned Filthy? CHeck the photos of the pool and the romantic fountain that they have. I think they believed that mosquito water pond is a turistic atraction. we returned to the desk and the employee told us that she have to check with her boss for the authorization for the cancelation. We waited almost an hour for the manager (Maria E. Canovas) to return the call. the employee have to call her 5 times after this and the manger accept to speak with us after she notices we were calling the police. She get upset because I told her that the room and facilities were not as advertised and I want to cancel the stay. she refused (by the way, they charge my wife credit card for the whole weekend in advance and they were not supposed to) right then we new they charge us for the stay and will not get a refund, I told her that i was feeling like they were robing me. She gets upset and then a Mr. Hernandez said to me on the phone that who the hell I think I was and that all the cabins were remodeled and the only thing I have left to do was get out of the property. Then he hang up the phone. Look at the photos that I was able to take and compare it to the brochure and internet. The staff did not let me take pictures of the rooms after this and the management of the hotel have not take any of my calls. the worse thing is we have to drive back home almost 3 hours with my wife crying because my birthday gift was ruined. Thanks Hacienda Juanita for the worst birthday experience ever! Dont go there!
