“A Mecca of Peace and Tranquility in Cuba”

On arrival at the airport things were effortless. We were the only two people going to Breezes and were provided a taxi by Sunwing on arrival. When we arrived at the hotel it took only 10 minutes to place us in our room. The room was beautiful and spacious. It was a garden view which faced the pool area. The staff are very helpful and friendly, and more than willing to help with any questions we had. Our Sunwing representative Mildred was brilliant she was a mine of information. We booked an Eco "Jeep" Tour with her which was an excellent day of excitement. We also took advantage of the resorts guided walks which were full of information and provided a great insight into Cuban rural life. While on the 4:00pm tour we stopped at a local eatery where we had the worlds best Pina Colada. We took the Havana tour which was very interesting, a lot of history was explained to us by our guide. There are only two ala carte resturants at this resort so book as soon as you can. Our favorite was the Italian one. The Activity/Entertainment staff are excellent and provide afternoon and evening activities. We found the stores at the resort are well equiped and found their prices were a little better than Havana.

“Pleasantly surprised”

Wasn't looking for a 5 star but was pleasantly surprised. Clean accomodations, friendly staff that really appreciate the extra tips. They work really long hours and 6 days a week for $35 a month. Craziness I'd say. Such is Socialism. Anyway the resort was well maintained and the snorkeling was great right at your doorstep. Pool looks small in the pictures but is actually very large and quiet. Food was fine, take along your hotsauce if you wish, but there's certainly no reason to go hungry. Make sure you take a side trip into Havana. A must see, and any of the staff can find you a great tour. For $35 we had a 7 hour adventure riding in a 1955 Chev. What a hoot!

Room Tip: we had a Gardenview and it was lovely, Beach view would be even lovelier

“Not what I expected....”

Myself and a friend stayed at Breezes, Jibacoa in November 2011. It was my first experience of not only long haul flying but an all inclusive resort. On arrival I found the staff a little unhelpful as we were left to find our own room which, considering the size of the place was a little difficult. Luckily there were other people there to guide us. Rooms were very nice, spacious and beds were comfy. Our outlook was over the entertainment area which if we had been a family with children, might have been a problem at night but as it was, it was no bother for us as we were out till the early hours anyway.

Our first meal experience was one of surprise as there was so much on offer. Plenty of meats and fish to choose from. Pasta though not much salad and desserts were in abundance. We realised after a few days that this array of choices was the same each night though there were a couple of theme nights which were very nice.

There are 2 onsite restaurants which you have to book in advance. We had heard that the authentic Cuban restaurant was nothing to write home about so we opted to book Martino's which was an Italian. Firstly, they got our date booking wrong but accommodated us anyway which was good. The choices in here were sparce and not what I would have said would be Italian by origin but I ended up going for the fillet mignon as I had been recommended this. I was a little disappointed and the seafood starter was disgusting.

The animation/entertainments team were very good and tried everyday to involve you in whatever the days activities were. To be honest, I thought it was very 'butlins' but fun to watch all the same. The evening entertainment was always good for splitting up the evening from constant drinking. The beach is lovely and I cannot fault the weather we had in our 2 weeks.

My first thoughts on my arrival back home was that I would never go again. The more I talk about the holiday and the pro's rather than the con's, I feel that I would go again even if for the familiarity. You would now know what your gonna get as it were. I had seen reviews before going and many people had said that a lot of people there (mostly Canadians) were regular customers and seemed to get a lot of favourtism. I did see something like this happening but I have to admit, we met a group of 6 other people, all different couples who we met up with at 5 everyday in the lobby bar and had an afternoon drink. I found the staff to be very courteous to us the further into the holiday we got and we even got some little perks too.

Even to the point of setting a table of 8 for us one evening so we could all dine together.

All in all, we had a really good time and the only downfall I found and this is for me personally is that I felt a little trapped as there was nothing around and my thing is to go off walking which I felt I could not do out around the resort. This was only on the basis that the area is very poor and I had nothing to offer anyone that might approach me. I did hear from other residents that it was not money they wanted but goods which of course I did not have.

Room Tip: I would ask for pool or sea view, though the nearer you are to the main building, you will hear the...

“Beautiful property amazing staff!”

Recently spent a week in Cuba and split the week between the Superclubs Breezes Varadero and Superclubs Breezes Jibacoa. The property at Jibacoa was top Knotch and beautiful, even though it was an hour from Varadero and a little less to Havanna. The staff at both resorts were extremely friendly and knowledgeable and it was sad to say goodbye!

The entertainment staff at Jibacoa were fantastic and I would certainly visit both resorts again!

Looking forward to going back for Viva Italia in April!

“It's good value for the money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We went in the summer time. We had a good time and it is a good resort to stay at if you want to be closer to Havana. We went to Havana, not our first time and wanted to see it before they let the Americans in, and yes that will be happing in the not so distant future.

The resort, was great, loved the layout and we had a second floor room facing the pool which was nice. The room was clean but a little dated. The room door is something right out of eastern Europe. Not a bad thing just interesting. The pool was clean and neat and if you tip and leave stuff for the maid, you will be cleaned first and they will go over the end to make sure you are happy.

As for the beach, go early to get the spot you want our your screwed. The beach and water are nice. But the local beggars are on the beach and in the water, you know the drill, "Hey you from Canada?, got any shampoo, etc." At first you say no and whatever, but by the 4th day you want to tell them where the bus is, lol, we did bring stuff, for the kids and we gave it directly to the children. So the adults could not sell it.

As for the food, make sure you make it Wednesday to the buffet restaurant, it is all you can eat lobster, yes I ate 4 of them.

The restaurant make reservations when you arrive at the front desk or soon as possible or you won't get in or it will be Wednesday and no lobster for you. The best place to is the beach one, have the chicken it's fantastic.

As for drinkable water it's at the beach bar/restaurant as well just go to the bar and fill up.

There is a pool bar as well that's not busy and the booze is good and plentiful.

Would I go back, for the money I spent sure. But there are so many other places to explore.

Room Tip: Go on the walk about that they provide to the locals homes, it can be a real insight, and yes they a...
