“Most amazing place and people”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I first off want to say that Cuba is an amazing country, and the people are even more amazing, I read some reviews on here of people complaining, and if your one of them I hope you become more compassionate in the future, because although Breezes Jibacoa may not be a 5* in your books, they are doing pretty darn good for what they have to work with.. I suggest you read up on the plight of the peoples and their country before you start to complain.

We arrived at the hotel around 11:30 and they had our room ready and they also gave us a free upgrade to pool view, which was very kind and nice, we did however change to a garden view as we are early to bed, and the show's run late some times, but they didn't not give us any problems moving us to a gardenview room, we asked and we received..

Just a note to Canadian's wondering what to bring down with them to hand out to the local peoples, they want Soap, toothbrush's, shampoo, toys, pencils, colouring books, any type of shelf brand medicin's such as asprin, they asked for purfume, any type of feminine products too, any clothes will be greatly appreciated. I loved this resort and remember to tip, even if your all inclusive they can use any help.

And try to assimilate to their culture while your there and don't expect it the other way around, after all you are in their country now, so try to relax and enjoy the changes around you.

Do try to snorkel if the surf is calm it's amazing, swim out as far as you can the best fish hide in the far reef's. and bring water shoes the beach is quiet rocky..

Oh and remember to bring a large coffee mug for your drinks, the cups there are very small and this will mean many trips to the bar, and if you have a sensitive back side do bring your own TP..it's a rare find and it's a bit scratchy..

I also recommend you try the local root vegetables they are very good, along with the chicken it's not GMO or Hormone injected like ours is..

All and My husband and I had a wonderful time, we would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a cheap, clean safe retreat..

It sure reinforced for me that WE here in Canada have 0 to complain about, I am even more grateful for what I have.. Oh another tip if your heading onto the sandy beach be sure to cover your lower leg's with tanning OIL the sand flea's will jump into it and die saving you from evil bite's..

Well that's my review, I don't usualy do resorts more than once but I would consider going to this resort again just for the people, they are soo warm and kind and willing to help..

Room Tip: Garden view room's are quiet, pool view rooms have better TV.

“Fantastic!!”

My wife and I just returned from a week long stay at this resort and at the risk of making this little gem becoming too popular we can't say enough good things about the place. The rooms were beautiful, the beach was beautiful, the snorkeling was awesome, the entertainment was alot of fun, and the food was great!!
Chefcubano Noel did a fantastic job of preparing the food and he his a great guy too. The wait staff were very pleasant and extremely helpful. In fact everyone, staff included were having a good time and seemed really happy which was nice to see. In fact everyone was so friendly even the locals. We will definitely go there again without hesitation. Hola to mes amigas Sarah and Vivian also :) Andrew and Lana 2204

Room Tip: We were lucky because we had an ocean view. But it depends what you want. Want to be near the pool...

“Lives up to it's rating”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

It’s my 3rd time to Cuba and that gives me some point of reference while writing this. I’ve stayed at a 3 star that claimed to be a 4 star and I stayed at a 3.5 star that was a 4 star. The Breezes Superclub claims to be a 4+ star and I’d say it lives up to it. [taking all cultural differences into consideration].

THE CHECK IN was smooth and painless [although no opportunity to upgrade]. The lobby and buildings were well maintained and clean… bright and up to date. Our room [building 9, second level facing pool] was well suited for our needs - halfway between the beach and the main building.
The beach and pool areas gave us no problems [aside from early morning lounge chair “saving”]. The bartenders and staff where excellent... keeping in mind that ANYWHERE you’ll find grumpy people, unhappy in life - we met them too.

THE FITNESS ROOM was clean, uncluttered and on the beach – nice.

THE FOOD in any of the places we ate, are better than other places in Cuba. The assortment was reasonable and I’d not go hungry. If you tire of lining up for omelets in the morning, bring some peanut butter and jam, or canned tuna salad – their bread is great. Also note that they have no chocolate so a few snacks came in handy for us.

THE ATMOSPHERE was pleasant and something we were looking for so we were delighted to find that the majority of people were 50 and older. There were a few younger couples and a few young adults with their families that seemed a touch bored. But if you prefer to stay away for egotistical, over indulging, clowns trying to “prove themselves”… this is the place for you. The entertainment staff did a good job of reading their audience – finding the balance between getting people involved in a beach soccer game and letting us relax in the sun. There were paddle boats, kayaks, catamarans and snorkeling right off our beach…

I’m partially afraid of telling too many people about this place – because we feel we’ve found a magical place in the sun and don’t want it ruined. My sister and I [both in our 40’s] will go again for sure… good value for the money.

NEGATIVE: If I had to share a negative… the exchange gal at the front desk tried to rip off my sister [only for 60 cents] but when we confronted her she apologized and gave us the money. Be sure to get the print out of your exchange as they are supposed to do that for every transaction [and didn’t for my sister and the guy after her]. Also found the maid was watching TV with someone else in the room next to us when the guests had checked out and she was remaking the room… actually had to ask her to turn down the soap opera she was watching. Too funny.

Room Tip: Be open to anything... they say the pool view is loud, but things ended early and it was never a pro...

“First time here - loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We stayed Jan 20 to 27 and got super lucky with the weather - 26 to 28 and sunshine all week.

We loved lots about this place - the isolation, the mountain backdrop, the incredible snorkling/diving reef literally straight off the beach and especially the quiet laid back atmosphere. Definetly is an older crowd here, if your young and want to party all day and night you are in the wrong spot! Lots of Brits and Germans which made an interesting mix of language and accents.

We enjoyed all meals and honestly never got around to the 2 specialty restaurants though kinda wished we had done the mexican as I was told the steak there was pretty good! Oh well, breakfast was always good, lunch at the beach bar (fresh fish on the grill - mmm) and the dinner buffet always had some kind of theme to change it up a bit each night though all the staples were there - plenty of chicken and pork, always a little overdone but hey its not fine dining folks! Wed is lobster night - the missus was licking her chops all week and wasnt disappointed!

Did the local walk, the mountain hike and walked around and up to the Cuban camp grounds (closed for the winter) Funny though there is an entirely empty back beach around the point that Im sure not too many people use. Its not groomed or cleaned but is nice for a long walk.

View from the mountain is worth it!

I realise that tipping is not part of the British or German cultures so wasnt surprised to see no coins coming from those guests - no real biggie, the Canadians certainly make the bartenders/servers appreciative. We left the maid a coin a day and some gifts which were appreciated also with some funky designs made from our bed cover.

We were in building 17 which was right at the foot of the mountain and right in front of the pool. We asked for 2nd story and ocean view if possible and from this building we had ocean views, pool views and mountain views! Very happy with that and couldnt hear anything when balcony door closed! Drinks on balcony late in the day was awesome as the sun set in front of us...

All in all, we choose this for the quiet r & r and the reef/lagoon off the beach. Green flags everyday (phew). There was a couple of days when some bluebottle stingers (Portugese man-o-wars) floated in and thankfully no one that we heard got stung. That would have been a real bummer for a day or so.

BTW the reef is pretty amazing, lots of fish and live coral. Not the south pacific type colours but good enough to spend lots of time everyday exploring both the inner lagoon and outer areas of the reef.

We are thoroughly satisfied with our week at this resort and would recommend it for those a bit older - ps parents, dont bring your 16 to 20 yr old kids here! There arnt many older teens here for them to meet, socialise and have fun with!

Room Tip: Block 17 2nd floor has pool, mountain and ocean views!

“LOVED IT! Our future wedding location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

My boyfriend and I (together almost 5years) went last April 2011 .. Sadly we never got to writing a review so here it is! Mind you, specifics are fuzzy but the feeling is the same:
LOVED IT! What a fantastic resort. We were upgraded to the tropicana suite the first night because the owner thought we were honeymooners (tehe) and it was incredible!! Wonderful beach bar, pool was always fun. Staff are super friendly - Cubans are wonderful people!! Bring gifts as they are seriously appreciated. (Need ideas send me a msg)
Went for 9 days, went off resort to visit Yoni (Joani) a cook who worked the omellettes and pasta station regularly. Off resort the locals were friendly and not once did we feel uneasy.
Unreal snorkelling right off the beach .. Just swim! :)
So much fun.. Maybe it is good i didn't write this right away - it would be a full page in length lol
Oh and food was actually awesome considering what you hear for Cuban food. Great buffets!

Definitely a place to check out! What an amazing experience. And like the subject says .. Our trip was so special for us we will be getting married here in the future !!
