“Good Value For Money and Very Relaxing”

We arrived on Christmas Eve and as usual received a very warm welcome and were taken to our room, this was our 8th visit to this resort, however on arriving in our room we noticed that half of the ceiling was covered with mould and smelt awful, we were travelling in a party of 4 so contacted the others who were next door and they were ok, however we contacted reception who then sent us us on to a different room which also had water running down the walls. Eventually all 4 of us were moved to a different block which was fine, but after a long journey we could have done without this.

We had a great stay with wonderful and very helpful staff and lovely weather.

The rooms themselves in this hotel are getting a bit tired now and could really do with some refurbishing, although the grounds remain immaculate and very pretty.

Alot of effort was put into the New Years Eve dinner and show which was very good.

We travel out and about quite a bit with local taxis etc.. and found a lovely restaurant on the main Via Blanca in Santa Cruz called Los Amigos, the food was excellent and prices very reasonable, well worth a visit if you fancy a change from the hotel food and surroundings.

Another great holiday was thouroughly enjoyed by all 4 of our party.

Room Tip: Garden View are the quietest rooms

“Great relaxing place”

We just returned from a great trip. The accomodations were great, other than rather low water pressure in shower. We were on the 2nd floor. The whole place is very clean and the staff are all very friendly. You have to remember that you are in Cuba and not north America. We flew Sunwing and that airline I was very dissapointed in, but, the hotel was great.

Room Tip: Stay on 2nd floor

“Enjoyable vacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

We went from January 4-Jan 11, 2012 and had only 1 "cooler" day on the 5th. I had been to the Breezes in Varadero a few years ago and was hoping to go there again, but was placed here at the Jibacoa. I must say I am happy with the location, staff, room, pool and beach. We had pretty good service. The room was clean, we were in a building that was close to the beach, and had a nice view from the deck of the large hill in the background. We had no bugs or ants, and always had hot water for showering. I didn't go on the hike up the hill, but had talked to people who said it was a nice view from the top.

The Piano bar was our favorite location to hang out at in the evenings and the drinks were good there. We ate most of our lunch meals at the beach bar, as we wanted to make the best use of our "sun and beach" time. I quite enjoyed the fish there with a little bit of lime squeezed on top. The staff at the Beach bar are very friendly.

We went to Taberno's for the a la carte meal, however, there was some confusion as my ticket had the correct time/location/date, but they did not have us on either restaurants list. We were still able to eat, and our waitress was very good to us.

The reef is great, I was surprised to see so many fish so close to shore. The snorkelling seemed to be a very popular activity, and I also thought it was quite good.
We had been to Havana before on a previous visit with a tour group, so this time we took a taxi for 70 CUC. We were lucky to have a very nice tour guide accompany us and she took us to the places we wanted to see.

Room for improvement:
If you are looking for the ultimate in dining experiences and very tasty food, this place may not be for you. I did find the omelette and pasta stations to be very good and the baked goods (rolls/buns) were tasty. However, there were times when the food was on the cooler side. The juice is excellent!

I would come back to this resort as I was happy with the location and service, the snorkelling and the relatively short distance to Havana.

“Pleasant enough , but......”

We stayed at Breezes over the New Year, I won't write a long review as I would
just be repeating what others have already written. When we arrived, check in was pretty chaotic with lots of others arriving at the same time. We had no offer of help to carry our bags to the room, which was in Block 3, quite a way in the dark peering at a tiny map. The room was fine, an ocean view, comfortable bed, very clean and well maintained during our stay. We did usually have to ask for more coffee etc from the maid, but no problems. The beach was breezy so we usually sat by the pool in the day, no problem getting sunbeds or towels. The service at the pool bar was grudging , no smile, no conversation apart from 'bring your cups back' when we had coffee. Lunch at the beach bar was ok and the best meal of the day as it was cooked fresh to order. Breakfast was good and nice to get a smile from the egg man who actually seemed to enjoy his job. Dinner - well, what can I say, we are not fussy eaters and didn't go hungry but the lack of imagination and blandness meant we didn't gain weight! The food in the Cuban restaurant was truly dreadful and we barely ate a thing.
We opted for the Virgin overnight to Havana before we flew home, beware- the rep doesn't tell, you the hotel is actually right out of Havana the other side and so you gain very little, still have to have a coach in and lose all the inclusive benefits. I wouldn't recommend this excursion at all. The visit we made on our own using the local taxis was much better.
In all, we had a great time, we enjoyed the new year party and the setting of the hotel, the walks along the beach and trips into Havana, but would we stay again? No, the service and the food was just not good enough for us.

Room Tip: The ocean view room was worth the extra

“When Breezes blow”

Our second trip to a breezes resort and they were like night and day. First was to the now closed Rio Bueno Jamacia. If this had been half as good I would have been ok. The staff were friendly the property well cared for and the beach bar was great. The food was to say the least bland and not great. Lots of possible great food turned into cafeteria fare. Best meals at breakfast and alacarte restaurants. The problem being a one a week limit on each restaurant . Those with a weak stomache come prepared. Only local drinks unless you asked and got lucky , only local beers. The water was great bring water shoes the beach is a little rocky at the waters edge. The entertainment staff did really try but for the most part were summer camp at best. The Jamaica trip used hotel staff and was great. The rating of 4 to 4.5 stars not warranted 3 at best.

Room Tip: Go with ocean view and stay away from rooms around the pool
