Enjoyed a lovely meal at Maes Yr Haf whilst holidaying on the Gower peninsular. There is a good choice from an imaginative menu serving mainly local food, which is well cooked and presented. Also there is a decent wine list which is not over-priced. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the overall experience was good value for a restaurant of this class. We will definitely be back.

We went to the Maes Yr Haf for lunch. To be honest I did not know what to expect as I had heard mixed reviews from friends. The bar mann was lovely and we had a drink before being seated. The restaurant is small but very well done. The food and the service was brilliant. Even though we were extremely full we just had to have a dessert as everything was just so good! The home-made breads were amazing and I can recommend the lamb. You have to try the desserts too.Definately want to go back it is a perfect treat for a special occasion!

Outstanding meal and service, couldn't fault anything. One of the best meals and experiences we've had in a very long time. Room was clean, modern although very warm ( I'm not complaining about the weather though!) . Staff were extremely helpful setting us off on walks etc. Would definitely go again

We stayed here for two nights for our first wedding anniversary. We wanted something special and were not disappointed. We were forewarned that the restaurant wouldn't be open but it was all arranged for us to eat elsewhere (Fairyhill and PA's), and we were driven to and from both restaurants by the very accommodating David. I should point out that we were the only guests on those nights, hence the very personal service - I wouldn't expect that normally!
The rooms are beautifully furnished, if a little bit small. The little touches - chocolates, bottled water, PS2/DVD player, ipod docking station - were all very much appreciated.
A walk to Three Cliffs Bay (and east to Southgate along the coastal path) is highly recommended - it's a beautiful beach and we were lucky to have a sunny if windy day.
We'll be back one day to try the restuarant - if breakfast was anything to go by then dinner will be really special.
