“Do not go there”

I did not stop here myself but visited friends who came here for a 3 week break!! A tour of the location incited me to write this review as they are still in shock as to what they were treated to.
As you get off the transfer coach from the airport you will probably think where on earth am I ?? If you have the misfortune to arrive late at night then reception is not much use you get what you are allocated and if there are any issues told it will be sorted in the morning!! This happened to our friends whose apartment was not suitable with a broken bed broken furniture drawers with no backs in and graffitti on furnishings!! They had to put up with this for their first night. They were moved to a 2 bed apartment next day except there was no bedding for the double bed they wished to use and were given single sheets etc being told that was all there was? It took a third complaint to get a further move to a more updated room which looked privately owned before a suitable apartment was found. This story was repeated to me by a further traveller who related a similar story to me and travelled with the same travel company.
These apartments are classed as 'self catering 'apartments but you would never get me trying to make more than toast here. They have very poor facilities and are very basic, I suppose if staying for a week then there are plenty of cafes/bars to eat in nearby or catch a local bus to one of the bigger resorts(Los Cristianos) for the day and eat out. The standard of these apartments are shoddy to say the least and I would not recommend anyone staying here unless you get one of the fully refirbished ones which only seem to be allocated when someone complains. (They appear to be private ones let out if required)
The area of Costa Del Silencio is a little out on a limb, a lot of the area is inhabited by ex-pats of a variety of nationalities, English, Dutch Belgian, German etc, and the bars, restaurants reflect that. However there are a lot of great places to eat,The Pink Parrot 10mins walk on the front in Las Galletas has a great Fish and Chip night (Friday), there are Lebanese and Chinese restaurants not far away from the apartments . If you wish to visit a beach this is not the place as there are only 2 very small sandy coves nearby one right next to the Ten Bel complex the other better one a few hundred yards passed the harbour towards the main lighthouse. Though the area is quiet you can get around easily, lots of good walks Golf del Sur area 20-30mins, Los Abrigos 45-60mins. However use the local busues get a bono (bonus) bus card for either 12 or 30 Euro this gives you travel at 30-50% discount and can get to Los Cristianos or Las Americas in 25-35mins or so for just over a Euro each way and the buses are frequent and reliable. The area is ok I have now been here twice and like its laid back feeling. I would say however the area is more suited to those over 40 than under as not lively enough for the disco types. There are lots of good apartments around htis area so dont be put off by this review....

“Cheap What More Can I Say”

reception area was very dated(70's) i was expecting to see huggy bear from starsky and hutch on reception. The room was clean on the ground floor overlooking the pool. The cleaners start about 7am and shout to one another across the pool area so don't expect to be able to lie in.Some of the apartments are owned by spanish and they let their kids run riot around and in the pool, and of a night they make even more noise. Is it to much to expect a quiet relaxing holiday.I won't be staying here again,i like the resort just not this hotel. There are plenty of places to eat close by and reasonable prices

Room Tip: other hotels would be quieter

“A sign of the times...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

Having spent time in quite a few holiday apartments Alondras Park is at the lower end of the ranking.
The Park was obviously suffering from the financial times due to the poor maintenance standards of the site. The apartment was clean and Cockroach free but the wall had a large hole, bulbs that did not work and a fridge that had seen much better days. The plaster around the walls was blown and missing in several places around the complex.
We did find the management very friendly and helpful with any enquires that we had.
The the park is situated in the area Costa Del Silencio which we found to be very good with every thing we needed with a good choice of supermarkets and cafe bars.
For travel to the bigger beach areas like Playas Del Armericas was a simple bus ride which cost just over £6 return for two.
Our holiday overall was very nice and we had a fun week.

Thank you for your comments, we are in the process of addressing many of the issues that you have raised and as you mentioned we are currently upgrading the rooms.
However this will be a gradual process as we are running at about 85% occupancy at present and this trend is set to continue well iinto the new year. I hope on your next visit to the Island you will book with us again and I am sure you will find a vast improvement..

“Great Cheap Family Holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

Just got back from a weeks stay at Alondras Park, ok bit tatty and out of date but great pool and friendly staff. It was a cheap holiday for me, husband and 2 kids. The pool bar had cheap drinks and lovely food . Lots of appartments are rented by the spanish locals. The resort is very cheap to eat out 1 Euro a pint and 15 Euros for a family of 4 to weat out for tea is great value for money. The appartments need updating but it was fine , I get aggravated when people moan about places when they are so cheap to stay. A holiday is what you make it the weather and the pool and the resort were fabulous and met some great people .

Hi Joanne

Glad you enjoyed your stay with us, It is pleasing when people who have had a good time take the trouble to write a review. As I mentioned to another reviewer we are in the process of a refurbishment project and hopefully if you come back next year you will notice the improvements we are making.

Regards

Steve

“You get what you pay for!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

just got back from four nights in this hotel, firstly I have to make one comment that the appts were very clean as were the pool areas. That was the only good point though apart from the weather!!
Our room was very basic and the bathroom smelt very bad with the toilet not flushing everytime. The kitchen had been cleaned but I wouldnt have used anything in there and the fridge didnt work which isnt great for a self catering holiday meaning we had to buy fresh food and drinks every day. we didnt complain about the apartment we were given as it was on the ground floor and the terrace lead out to the pool so we felt that we could cope with the little issues so that we didnt get another bad appt but in a worse area.
when you walk into the reception area you feel like you have walked back into about 1940 as it is so dated and the guy on reception didnt speak English. they did however give us a really useful map.
the area was very quiet which suited us and there were a couple of nice cafes/takeaways very close by which was lucky as the bar at the hotel didnt open very much and when it did you had to pre book your food!
the worst thing about the hotel is that it is mainly residential and the residents didnt think twice about having loud slanging matches whenever they felt like it and at the weekends the kids just completely took over running riot around the place and generally being rude and there was a cat that just wouldnt leave us alone!
on the positive side they did seem to be doing work on the empty apartments so maybe they are planning a refurb. If you want cheap this is the place to go but just remeber you get what you pay for

Room Tip: ground floor room pool view

Hi Beckie

I'm sorry that the apartment didn't meet your expectations, if you had brought it to the attention of the reception staff or myself then we would have done our best to rectify the situation, if we didn't have another apartment that suited you, we would have made good the faults that you had with your apartment in a timely manner that would not have inconvenienced you..

Please accept our apologies and I hope this one bad experience will not deter you from returning as we do have many guests who return to us every year for their holidays.

Regards

Steve
