I did not stop here myself but visited friends who came here for a 3 week break!! A tour of the location incited me to write this review as they are still in shock as to what they were treated to.
As you get off the transfer coach from the airport you will probably think where on earth am I ?? If you have the misfortune to arrive late at night then reception is not much use you get what you are allocated and if there are any issues told it will be sorted in the morning!! This happened to our friends whose apartment was not suitable with a broken bed broken furniture drawers with no backs in and graffitti on furnishings!! They had to put up with this for their first night. They were moved to a 2 bed apartment next day except there was no bedding for the double bed they wished to use and were given single sheets etc being told that was all there was? It took a third complaint to get a further move to a more updated room which looked privately owned before a suitable apartment was found. This story was repeated to me by a further traveller who related a similar story to me and travelled with the same travel company.
These apartments are classed as 'self catering 'apartments but you would never get me trying to make more than toast here. They have very poor facilities and are very basic, I suppose if staying for a week then there are plenty of cafes/bars to eat in nearby or catch a local bus to one of the bigger resorts(Los Cristianos) for the day and eat out. The standard of these apartments are shoddy to say the least and I would not recommend anyone staying here unless you get one of the fully refirbished ones which only seem to be allocated when someone complains. (They appear to be private ones let out if required)
The area of Costa Del Silencio is a little out on a limb, a lot of the area is inhabited by ex-pats of a variety of nationalities, English, Dutch Belgian, German etc, and the bars, restaurants reflect that. However there are a lot of great places to eat,The Pink Parrot 10mins walk on the front in Las Galletas has a great Fish and Chip night (Friday), there are Lebanese and Chinese restaurants not far away from the apartments . If you wish to visit a beach this is not the place as there are only 2 very small sandy coves nearby one right next to the Ten Bel complex the other better one a few hundred yards passed the harbour towards the main lighthouse. Though the area is quiet you can get around easily, lots of good walks Golf del Sur area 20-30mins, Los Abrigos 45-60mins. However use the local busues get a bono (bonus) bus card for either 12 or 30 Euro this gives you travel at 30-50% discount and can get to Los Cristianos or Las Americas in 25-35mins or so for just over a Euro each way and the buses are frequent and reliable. The area is ok I have now been here twice and like its laid back feeling. I would say however the area is more suited to those over 40 than under as not lively enough for the disco types. There are lots of good apartments around htis area so dont be put off by this review....
