“Probably the best holiday ever”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

When we went to the agency we were told many good things about this hotel (now called "Club Bella Mare"). They said that they were receiving positive feedback all the time from people who were already there. We decided to give it a try, because the offer seemed really enticing (mostly because of the price).
Now after it is all finished, I can only say: If you ever have the opportunity to go there - don't hesitate!". You will only get good memories and the wish to come again.
I rate this hotel "very good" and not "excellent" because of the rooms. In fact some of them are equal to those in a 3-star hotel, but this doesn't ruin the whole picture. Actually it is a big complex of several buildings and some of them are older then many other in the area. Personnel is very kind, polite and courteous but very few of them speak English. Food is great, the pools and beach also, but the real advantage of this hotel is the Animators. It is a group of people whose job is to never let you get bored :)
They always organize darts tournament, water polo and beach volley games, step and aqua aerobic for the girls and in the evenings, after the "Mini disco" program for the children, they have their own show. Usually they play some comic sketches, they sing and dance and every time the audience is involved. Sometimes there is Miss/Mister Bella Mare contest. After the show is finished you can choose to go to a disco or simply stay at the hotel. If you opt for the disco, the transport is organized from and to the hotel, moreover the animators will be there to take care of the group of guests from the hotel and make sure everyone gets back. When they are not doing anything of the above mentioned, they just wonder around amusing you and making friends with everybody. The mere concept of having an animators group for the guests and the guys themselves are really charming.
I WOULD like to go there again and strongly recommend that you visit it to.

“not for family with children”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2011

It was your first holiday abroad and I was quite happy to get a great deal initially. I was shocked and pretty worried about negative comments from here. We kind of wishing that those negative comments r just from some travellers who like to moan. well, the wish did not come true. It took us 3 hours from airport to the hotel!!! Kids (6, 4 and 2 years old) became very exhausted and grumpy during the transfer. It was a nightmare!!!!!!!
Food--- the food is ok for us. but the restaurant is dirty... the high chair we used never got cleaned up properly.
Room-- very basic. when we booked, travel agent told us the hotel is a 3 star. I would say it's 1 start or 2.
Beach---beach opposite the hotel is rocky. but we had great fun. U need to cross the road to get to the beach. love the amigo bar opposite the hotel.
We booked a boat trip through the agent outside hotel (100 meters from the hotel). forgot the agent's name. nice man.he had a a rabbits, so nearly everynite my children go to his little booth to feed the rabbits.

Horse ride--dont ever try the horse ride. it's a rip off. we paid around 15 pounds for 10 mins ride. very disappointing

Alanya castle--it is beautiful. it's better get a taxi to go up there and walk down. beautiful view.

“Not for the British”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2010

We booked this hotel last minute this year for us and our three small children, we booked through Travel Republic, this is not a fully inclusive hotel, every thing you want to do has an extra charge, if you are not a rich Russian you are ignored, two staff we spoke to could understand english and could speak only broken. The food was poor especially for the children, not even an ediable fruit selection (which they would have been more than happy with) we are pleased we only stayed a week as towards the end of the week we were bored with the same bland food, everything tasted the same, we ate out alot in the last few days and found good food in restaurants that tasted like food not wet cardboard. We took the bus to Alayna at night, we found a super restaurant there "KONAK" www.konakrest.com, staff spoke english and they were extreamly friendly, outside the hotel the Turkish people love children, which is what we expected as we have been to Turkey before, we also like Turkish and continental food but we feel this was not served in the hotel, the hotel was sold to us as the Platan Alpina but this is the Sonas with a little face lift, probally due to all the bad reviews the Sonas already has. Travel Republic really let themselves down with the transfers, we arrived in Turkey and had to wait three hours for our transfer (that we had booked and paid for) we were told if we was not happy we could pay for our own taxi (200 turkish lira) or we could wait - again with three children of five and two at three waiting at midnight for three hours was an utter joke, we rang the coach provider and Travel republic and were told five minutes or ten minutes or fifteen minutes or half an hour, we called every fifteen minutes until after three hours we got our transfer, I would also like to point out that other peolpe arriving ( Russian included) the Russians received their transfers straight away - which is discusting service, on the whole once we arrived at our destination we made the best of it as we always do - I have never complained about a holiday in the fifteen years I have travelled abroard and I have stayed all over and in many types of accomodation, we are not picky and do understand that you get what you pay for, we called well before the 24hrs advised to confirm our pick up transfer, unbelievabilly after the hassel of the first transfer we were once again not picked up, our flight was leaving Turkey Antalya at half eleven at night, we had to be out of our room at the hotel at lunch time, we sat with our children in the none airconditioned lobby as it was too hot for them to be outside as we had no access to a shower before travelling, we were told we would be picked up at five thirty, at seven thirty and several calls later we were still stranded at our hotel, finally travel rebublic, after telling us again that if we didnt want to wait we should pay for our own transfer (200 lira) did arrange a taxi at their expense, the chap was a real gem and sped us at over 170 km per hour flat out to the airport so we could make our flight, I am now making an offical complaint to travel republic, we feel they only arranged this transfer for us as we told them if we missed our flight they would be flying us back to the uk also. Do not travel with TRAVEL REPUBLIC I wouldnt be surprised if they arent the next to go bust - shoddy shoddy shoddy!!!!!

this is not a 4 star - more like 1 or 2 star- the food is terible (thank god for mc'donalds in alanya) . i lost a stone in 2 weeks. rooms dated , leaking shower , fidge didnt close properly and dirty, ants in our room . no safety on windows or patio doors for children . air con rubish .not enough tables for dinner and if you wait for the stampeed to end then the food can run out .If your diet cosists of water mellon and salad you may be ok . hotel totaly caters for russians, ice reserved for the russian , bar staff serve them before anyone else. you are not aloud to take any food drink into the hotel or face a fine - no food or drink to be taken to your room . kids club is a small room that smelt and had a dirty carpet ,hardly any toys and a russian lady that looked after the kids who spoke only a couple of words of english . entertainment was like a school play and very little english spoken .no english tv (not even bbc world news).no efes on AI only tuborg beer.we all had stomach problems and so did every british person we spoke to within 2 days of arriving .
We are not the type of people to complain and i must say this hotel had a horrid atomosphere , people shout at you if you sit on their sun bed even if they havent been there all morning, they knock into your kids in the rush for dinner , i have never before wanted to leave before the end of my holiday but if i could have changed my hotel or flight i would have done .
i do have one positive thing to say about this hotel and that is about the turkish staff , they were very friendly ( prob because we were friendly and curtiouse to them , which the dont get off alot of the other guests). a special mention for ronnie and sinan top blokes .
