“Loved the view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2007

My husband and I just got back from our two week honeymoon to Greece. We stayed at the Artemis Studio for 3 nights. We highly recommend it for couples...especially those looking for a romantic getaway. The view is amazing, the staff is excellent and the town of Melagori, where the hotel is situated, is quiet and has a few restaurants, a bus stop, a bakery and a mini mart within walking distance. We do recommend renting a moped though to get around to see the rest of the island (the staff at the hotel hooked us up with one for about 30 euros for a day). F.Y.I. - A bus ride into Fira, the island's capital, costs less than 2 euros...and buses come by frequently in the summer months.

Be sure to book a room "with a superior view" and trust us, you won't be disappointed. The hotel is also extremely clean.

Hope this helps.

“Romantic Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2007

Upon arrival they upgraded us to their top suite with private balcony overlooking the caldera because it was easier for them--we didn't complain! Room was clean, mattresses a little worn but fine. Kitchenette & TV included. Washroom was tiny and cramped with a shower thrown in as an afterthought, but typical of most traditional Greek hotels. View is spectacular. Some excellent restaurants within walking distance in the nearby nice town of Megalohori. Suggest renting a car or moped to get around Santorini if you stay here.

“What you expect is not what you get”

We stayed at this hotel in August 2005.

Pros:
- Beautiful view of the caldera
- Megalachori has a small town square which is incredibly quaint
- The pool was nice.

Cons:
- From our room, we couldn't actually see the view without opening the door (no window on that side.) Our "balcony" was actually the walkway between the rooms on the second floor. On our first day, we missed the sunset because the room door was closed.
- Beds were uncomfortable. We asked for a queen bed and got two singles.
- The manager was really unfriendly. The air conditioner actually leaked water onto our belongings, and he seemed annoyed that we were asking him to do something about it.
- We had one heck of a time finding the Megalachori town center. Hotel gave us a map but we still couldn't find it. On the first day we decided to walk to the nearby winery, which turned out to be a treacherous journey along a narrow road with no sidewalk.

Santorini is a very small island, with a scooter you can navigate it in one day. So you don't have to stay in Megalachori to visit the town, which is cute, though dominated by Vedema. We booked late in the busiest month, so our options were limited to which places had vacancies. Overall we would have liked better service and facilities for what we paid (and would have liked a more accurate description of the view), but it was overall OK.

“Nice but the owner purposefully overbooks”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2006

The hotel itself was quite nice and the location was great---rimside near the highly underrated town of Megalochori. However, when we arrived, they had no room for us. They casually mentioned that they had in fact overbooked for SIX rooms that night. This overbooking, they said, was what they always had to do in order to stay full. They offered to put us up in the owner's cousin's hotel next door for one night. It was so sketchy! Please confirm your reservation with the owner at least 2 or 3 times before you arrive. I had confirmed my reservation and had the e-mail, but we still ended up at "Sketchville Motel" next door.

What can I stay - our stay here was just perfect! The owners were so friendly, the accomodation is so comfortable and absolutely spotless, but what's magical about this place is the view -your right on the cliffs edge watching the sunset go down, just amazing.........

Loved this place so much just didnt want to leave. Will be back for sure.
