Staying at the St George Hotel was the best decision we could have made for our holiday in Paros!
Before getting there we advised the hotel we would be arriving at 7am (only flight to Paros that week, but there are ferries to/from Athens as well) and asked whether this would be a problem. We were told not to worry and upon arrival everything was taken care of - our spacious oceanview room was clean and ready for us at no extra charge for the day and we were even offered complimentary breakfast.
The hotel has a lovely pool of a good size with a bar/restaurant - in the evening there was a choice of a la carte or buffet. Food overall was fantastic and even though it was low season restaurants nearby were still open. The beach is right at the hotel (across a small road, very very very little traffic). Because it was September, it was very windy most of the time, but this was a very welcome breeze as it was still very hot. With regard to the hotel beach, we discovered it was slightly less windy with a bit finer sand than the beach at nearby Drios, so a big plus when you go in the windy season.
Speaking of nearby: Yes, St George is somewhere off the hustle and bustle of the three major towns Lefkes, Naousa and Parikia. f you want nightlife, crowds and waterparks, this might not be for you unless you want to drive. Even nearby Drios is hardly a big town (at least not in low season), but walking there takes only about 20 minutes.
For 7 days on the Island it was perfect that there were only three cities as we could visit all of them without having the impression we missed something. There are bus services on the island and the hotel was very helpful with telling us rightaway about where the bus stops are, how frequent the buses go and how to purchase tickets in advance (as you cannot buy tickets on the bus).
If you are looking for a weeklong(ish) holiday where you can relax and visit other towns and go sightseeing, enjoy great food and wine, have a beach, a pool and a choice of restaurants nearby, then St George Hotel in Paros is for you. We had the right amount of relaxation and sightseeing combined in 7 days. We weren't interested in nightlife for this holiday, therefore we were very glad not having stayed in either of the bigger towns after visiting them.
A truly perfect holiday, thank you St George Hotel!
