We spent a week at this hotel, two rooms for seven persons - core family of two adults and three children whereas one infant, and a couple of grand parents. One of the rooms had a bath tub, the other had a tiny bathroom with a shower. Since we made a late reservation, we had the smallest rooms at the facility, but at least we were in the "main building"- same as reception and restaurant. The other building had an indoor pool and a gym.
The breakfast buffét was very nice, with a mix of local dishes and more familiar options like croissants and a variety of marmalades.
The pools were nice and clean, and the beach being 50 meters away was just perfect.
The town is cosy, lazy and relaxed - with buses to take you to Chania if you need more. The tavernas were awesome, not too expensive and with a great view over the sea.

We are a couple of two students finishing University in need of a treat at the end of our studies. Arriving at the hotel we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful as they were throughout our stay. We were fortunate enough to attain a room with a beautiful ocean view and could thus relish sunrise and sunsets from our sizable balcony. Being here a week we enjoyed several days simply lying by the pool or making the 30 meter walk to the beach, which whilst getting into the water means crossing 2-3 meters of pebbles and rocks to get to a sandy bottom. The water was beautiful and warm.

In the evenings we enjoyed dinners at the lovely surrounding restaurants with a variety of local food and wine. particularly the three along the beach west of the hotel had beautiful ocean views allowing us to sit either on or above the beach essentially. We made several day trips to Chania and Samaria from our hotel as well.

The Hotel caters nicely to both families and couples in need of a rest as well as others, there is plenty of room with three pools and two beaches so you never feel crowded. We weren't looking for a jumpy club holiday and Kalives doesn't offer that sort of nightlife, however beautiful walks, restaurants, little cafe's, local shops and local people.

We would warmly recommend this hotel to anyone in need of a break.

Do you want the beach nearby and the village not too far away, a pool for the quick dip in the evening, friendly atmosphere, enough tavernas to try a new one every night (and a nice hotel buffet if you're to tired to make another step)? Then this is just perfect! The beach starts just on the other side of the pool area of the hotel and the first taverna is right next to it. Not too crowded - and yet lively.

The hotel staff always friendly and willing to answer your most awkward questions. Clean and neat with comfortable rooms. Nice continental breakfast with fruit, vegetables, eggs, sausages and bread. In fact, the only thing, I could have wished for, was a fresh juice in stead of the insipid syrup served – hence "only" four stars on restaurant. The pools (two pcs) could have been bigger, but then again, the beach was just a few steps away.

You can really trust on this hotel, perfect service, always the customer in centrum. All day staff service you, and area is clean and nice Bar area, is nice, and perfect for families with small ( and big ) children.
Romantic atmosfaere in the evening, with candle light and security to look everything are perfect for a nice holiday.
