It was my first time in Skiathos and Koukias apartments are really nice place to stay ! It is an absolute family business and you are definitely in the Greek countryside.. with the donkeys noise as well but this is part of it !
We had a lovely time with my husband there.. the place and rooms are very clean and the swimming pool is so big and clean !
the accomodation is simple but very confortable ! do recommend it then !

“Thank you for the best Holiday ever”

My wife and I visited Skiathis and stayed in Koukias House from of 9th september for one week.

We stayed in room 3. Managing a hotel my self, I found koukias appartments very decent, clean and of a high standards, customer service is second to none. as soon as we arrived we were welcomed by the owner Dimitri, wo showed us the way to our appartment. 15 minutes later our luggage arrived.we stayed in room 3 whuch was basic with three single beds, Kitchen, shower toilets and balcony. The appartment was spotless and everything was in working order. everyday housekeepers came to clean the appartment and make the beds, they also changed the bins and supplied us with clean towels. the sheets have been changed twice during our stay which we have been informed at the time booking our holiday with Thomas Cook.

The bar was great as I loved the happy hours deal: pint of Mythos at 2 euro. there is pool table by the bar and karaoke everynight. the swimingpool was very clean and quiet with plenty of sunbeds. WIfi and internet was complimentary in the bar area

Tuesday night we decided to have the barbecue at the hotel and we were not disapointed. 3 course meal for only 15 euro( which I thought was a very good value for money , specialy in Skiathos). we had typical greek salad to start with ( eat as much as you like) followed by grilled meat selection: pork, chicken, lamb and mince plus french fries, for dessert we had Blueberry ice cream. After the BBQ we had great night with the greek dancers, they got everyone dancing and they tought us all how to do the moves, I absolutely loved it.

Skiathos is one of the most beautiful islands I have been to, There are 64 beaches around the island and every one of them is unique and special, my favourites beaches were Maratha, Lala rias and Banana beach.

the bus stop is outside the hotel and it cost 2 euro each time you get on the bus, we rented a car for 1 week for 120 euro, so we explored the island more.

we also did the boat trip around the island and it was amazing as you get to the beaches that can not be accessed by car. The cost of the day trip was 15 euro per person. we booked it direct in the harbour( for the same trip Thomas cook quoted us 45 euro per person).

Skiathos town was very beautiful but very expensive, some bars by the Harbour charged 10 euro for a cocktail and nearly 7 euro per beer which I found very expensive. food also expensive. at Koukias everything was great value and good quality,

I would like to say a massive thank you to all the Koukias family Dimitri, his wife.thank you for everything you did for us and all the warm hospitality and special welcome.

Kostas and Irene are the spirit of the place and nothing was trouble for them. always consistent with the service with beatiful smile.

special thanks to Sabou the Maintenance manager always trying to help.

we already want to come back and we def will be staying here again.

PS: Make sure you try Koukias Club sandwich and chips for only 5 euro Great value

“Extremely disappointed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

Staying one week was one week too long for us!There was only one positive with our apartment and that was it was a large room with a covered in patio which remained fairly cool. The negatives were, overpowering musty smell from bathroom, wardrobes, drawers and cupboards in kitchen area. Mould on the shower curtain and tiles. Bath towels with holes in them (wouldn't even dry my dog with them!). Holes in bedspread (looked like burn marks).Cleaners did bare minimum of cleaning during 7 days ie emptied bins daily and changed bedsheets once - there was never any smell of disinfectant and the floor was never swept or washed which you usually get at least once per week. This apartment was No 2 and so can only comment on our findings. However we did hear the owner asking the rep why not many people were using his place! We had drinks in the bar on our first evening and we were the only couple in there and therefore we didn't go again and noticed during the week that hardly any one else went. There was a lovely pool but again no one used it the whole week. Air Con was being charged at 45 euros per week and the security boxes were sited in the public bar area.
Thomas Cook need to do a detailed inspection of this accommodation and seriously think about using it again in the future. Classing it as a 3 star accommodation is absolutely ridiculous.

“lovely place and we'll be back!”

I stayed for 2 weeks with my husband from the 22nd July 2011 in room 13, apartments very clean, rooms cleaned every day at about 10.30ish so you're not distrubed too early! there is a lovely big pool with friendly bar/cafe, plenty of sunbeds, BBQ every Tuesday night with Greek dancing, not to be missed! All staff very friendly and helpful, lovely family atmosphere. airconditioning in rooms 45 euros per week, safety deposit boxes available behind the bar at 12 euros per week, all apartments are set back behind the bar in seperate blocks with very pretty views of lime and orange trees and a glimpse of the sea through the trees to the left and a 5 a side football pitch to the right, balconies on all rooms with table and chairs in the shade in the morning, perfect for breakfast before going out for the day, or lovely cooked breakfast in the bar. there is a little bit of noise from the animals outside, donkeys, dogs and cockrels, but just typical of Greek countryside and not enough to disturb you or spoil your stay in anyway. the apartments are 2 mins walk from the bus stop number 18, the buses run all day every 15 mins from bus stop number 1 in Skiathos town all the way to bus stop number 26 Koukinaries beach. bus fares are no more than 2 euros each but they are very busy from 6.30pm - 8.30pm with crowds coming from koukinaries beach heading back into town. Troulos beach is only 10mins walk from the apartments on busy main road. there are 2 supermarkets 2 mins walk away from apartments, selling everything you might need, there are plenty of tavernas and bars if you want to stay in troulos every evening or you can get the bus into Skiathos Town for 2 euros each, last bus home is 12.30am. there are plenty of boat trips available from the port in town and they're much cheaper than booking through the rep.
overall Skiathos is a beautiful place and the Koukias apartments are an ideal base to explore the whole island, we will be back again one day and would recommend to anyone.
a big thank you to all at Koukias for making our holiday such a lovely experience for us x

“Absolutely loved it!”

My boyfriend and i stayed here from 8th to 15th July 2011 and had a lovely time, Kostas, Demitri, Sabou and all the staff are so friendly and helpful. The apartments are spotlessly clean and i would say (having stayed in self catering before) above the usual standard of equipment provided. I would advise people to pay for the air con €45 extra but well worth it if you dont want to be eaten alive by mosquitoes we didnt and suffered the consequenses :(!!! I would recommend doing the Greek night that they have on a tuesday evening (€15 per person €7 for children) but so much fun we had such a laugh, most of the family attend and it feels as if you are part of their extended family.
If you are looking for a party holiday or a quiet relaxing holiday then stay at these apartments! We will definately be back :o)
