“Lovely B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2009

Hay Barton is a working farm owned by Blair and Jill Jebson who make you extremely welcome. Homemade cakes with afternoon tea and great breakfasts. Lovely rooms and a communal lounge (shared with one other couple) with books, maps, TV etc.

Jill has a list of nearby restaurants. We ate at 3 different pubs, 2 of which were excellent. All were within 15-20 mins drive.

Heligan ("Lost Gardens of ...) is about 15 minutes away and Eden Project 20-25 minutes. We much preferred Heligan. St Mawes (15 mins) is a very pretty place to wander around in the evening.

Warning: the country lanes can be narrow single track, as in most of Cornwall.

“REMARKABLE! Birdwatching from your bath!”

Hay Bartow is exceptional . Welcomed with tea and a freshly baked sponge cake sitting in front of a wood fire in the sitting room dedicated to the guests, I knew it was going to be good
The bedrooms are spacious and immaculate with lovely linen and Portugese bedcovers. Hot water bottles snuggle in your comfortable bed which has Carh Kidston eiderdowns.
Delicious bath oils and ungents are in the large bathroom and as I lay in piping hot water filled with lovely scents I was able to watch the birds from my large, long roll-top bath.
Jill's breakfasts are exceptional. The local food is so elegantly presented and the yellowes eggs come from the prettiest chickens. The butter is moulded and I actually wanted to use a butter knife. Home made marmalade and a choice of cereals (Nigela Lawson's crispy muesli is outstanding) and several varieties of toast make a filling breakfast which lasted me all day.
Jill and Blair Jobson live on a working farm but go out of their way to make one feel at home. Their attention to detail and thoughtfulness for their guests is heart warming. A bull calf was born during my stay! I was so spoiled that I did not want to leave. I shall certainly be back as the Farm is situated perfectly to explore that lovely part of Cornwall. But I would
go back anyway because I want to spend more time at Hay Barton!

“Beautiful attention to detail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2007

My partner and I stayed at beautiful Hay Barton over Easter in 2007. Our room was large with a double made of twin beds zipped together, heaps of blankets and eiderdowns, wood floorboards, big sash window. The huge bathroom had a roll top bath (no shower curtain so you have to be careful showering - but the room's much prettier that way), luxury toiletries and useful extras like cotton wool, emery board, clothes brush etc. There's a big guest living room with lots of magazines, books and TV, wifi access. The Jobsons were charming and provided many different teas, coffee and home made cake every afternoon. Superior tea-making facilities in the room - they left us a flask of fresh milk every night. The decor was pristine and beautiful - lots of country touches, antiques, fresh flowers etc without being at all stuffy. We're a young urban couple and hugely enjoyed this gorgeous farmhouse. You must be willing to drive everywhere - pubs etc are a few miles away.

“Fantastic B&B in Cornwall”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2006

It seems it was meant to be. We decided at extremely short notice to spend a week in the Roseland penninsula, Cornwall. We began looking on the internet and by sheer luck found Hay Barton B&B who had just had a cancellation for the next 5 nights. After a very long drive from London the next day, we arrived very tired, but Jill Jobson was there to greet us, we were shown to a beautiful guest sitting room and given tea, coffee and homemade cake. Jill then took us to our room. It was stunning, a very large room tastefully furnished and decorated with an en-suite bathroom almost as large as the bedroom with a free standing roll top bath. All for only £35.00 per person, per night.
Very high quality bed linen, towels, toiletries and tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast was fantastic, local produce extremely well presented and cooked which was absolutely delicious every morning. Nothing seemed too much trouble for Jill or Blair to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. This is a beautiful farmhouse on a working farm which is ideally placed to explore the penninsular and dine at the many good quality pubs and restaurants.
It is a short drive to the Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan and many beautiful beaches.
We will certainly be returning and will be highly recommending Hay Barton to all our colleagues and friends.
