We chose to stay here en route from Lisbon to Porto. It is an ideal hotel to stay for visits to Coimbra (the Oxford of Portugal) and the Roman remains at Conimbriga, both of which are well worth the visit. This Pousada is more modern than others but we enjoyed a very pleasant stay. There were excellent choices for breakfast and the rooms and staff could not have been better.

We spent two nights here and really enjoyed the grounds, the breakfast, and the quiet setting. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The property is well-maintained. We would note that we have never had a mattress as firm as ours was--not something we loved, but we managed. If that is a problem one might inquire about that. But the hotel is very good, and easy to find off of the main road.

My wife who's birthday we were spending at the hotel was taken ill (a reaction to food eaten in another hotel) soon after we arrived. The staff could not have been more caring or supportive, or indeed the emergency services and villagers of the town.

Our room and terrace (which she saw a lot of) was superb.

Dining room was a little cramped if I am honest and could be better organised - only those by the window get a real view.

A great stop off point if you are heading north from Lisboa and do visit the Roman ruins at Conimbriga.

When we arrived in this pousada, we were told that we were upgraded since we asked for a balcony. Later on, the receptionist helped us by entering her own code, to get on the internet. (1/2 hour free).
The room was pleasant, the balcony overlooking the big garden and the pool was great.
The drinks we ordered, were the most expensive we had in all Portugal.
The restaurant is facing west, very sunny in the evening and although there were sunblinds, the personnel closed the curtains to create some shade.
There is a nice restaurant, O Cabritino, 50 meters to the left of the hotel, with better food and better prices.
