“An excellent place to stay”

We chose Casa Ferrobo as a base for touring in the Algarve. We were very satisfied with all aspects of this self catering complex. The swimming pool area is extremely well cared for with lush grass and beautiful trees and flowers. Our villa was spotlessly clean and very spacious, with an authentic Portuguese feel but thoughtfully with British television available.
It had all the necessary facilities for self catering if required.
Jenny provided a first class friendly service and good advice on the local area.
She was kind enough to return a pair of shoes to us by post that we left behind when we left, an indication of her commitment to good service.
The local walks are very good, giving an interesting insight into the local cork industry, but make sure it is not too hot before you set out!
Overall we would recommend this venue to anyone wanting a quiet, relaxing holiday.

“a return to paradise”

This was our third visit in three years and we always said we would never return to somewhere because there are so many other places to visit in the world.
Casa Ferrobo is tucked out of the way just outside the non tourist town of Sao Bras de Alportel, it is ideal as a base to tour the Algarve by car. There are plenty of restaurants about in near by towns and villages but not within walking distance. If you want peace, quiet and relaxing with the option to get out and about this is just the place and great value for money. Jenny and Tom make this such a warm and welcoming place its just feels like we're reurning home.

“The real Algarve”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 April 2010

lovely swimming pool area and gardens. Owners friendly and seemed very helpful - however we are very independent/private (sour?!?) and they respected this too!!

Casa Lucy was small but my only complaint was that it smelt musty after Portugal's very wet winter.

Walking routes were great and easy to follow - but advise walking boots or shoes with a thick sole because some of the paths are very rocky and our feet got tender in trainers - and a stick to fend off the flipping dogs which are everywhere!!! Luckily most are all bark, but one was up for some biting!!

Don't be put off by the walk to the town, yes it is about a mile down the main road, but the road is wide with a wide off the edge and the traffic is very sparse and also quite considerate. Good choice of restaurants in town too.

“Fabulous relaxation”

We spent a week in the "Emma" apartment and had a fantastic time. Hosts Jenny and Tom cannot do enough for you - we opted out of hiring a car and Tom picked us up, dropped us off, carried us here and there upon request. The town has more than enough high quality restaurants to mean you'll come away slightly heftier than when you arrived.

The swimming pool at the Casa was also a treat, we got to know it pretty well in our seven days of doing pretty much not-a-lot! Overall, for a quiet, relaxing place, with unbeatable hospitality, this is the place.

“A beautiful location with 5 star service!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2009

We were lucky enough to have this place recommended to us by a friend and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Casa Ferrobo is made up of six separate 1 or 2 bedroom self catering cottages and these are in the setting of a beautiful garden with a lovely big pool and seating area. We booked the cheapest cottage which was a studio and were delighted with it as it was very spacious, well kept and clean – and was a fantastic price – a lot cheaper than a cramped hotel!! On arrival we were picked up at the airport (a complementary gesture if you are not hiring a car!!) and on arrival Jenny & Tom (the owner and her son) had put beer, wine and water in the fridge as a welcome gesture. Although you are recommended to hire a car we just wanted a chill out week so we spent a lot of time lazing around the very well maintained pool area – there were enough sun beds for everyone and as a lot of guests hired cars to go to the coast it was never that busy round the pool. The town Sao Bras de Alportel was a 10-15 min walk down the road so we went most mornings for fresh bread and a coffee – a very nice town that is not at all touristy which we liked!! In the evenings we also walked down and tried a different restaurant each night (on request Tom would also act as a free taxi service dropping off and picking up which was great!!). The restaurants were fantastic and offered amazing fresh fish and meats – don’t think we paid over 20E each for any meal that week!! There were bbq facilities at the cottages with all coals etc provided so jenny also kindly picked us some meat up from the market and we stayed round the pool and bbq’d with some other guests we had met. All in all it was the most fantastic holiday we have had in the last few years (beating both Egypt & Barbados!!). Jenny & Tom really do look after you and the cottages and garden with pool are beautiful and it was so much nicer than staying in a hotel. We are definitely going back next year!! The cottages are available all year round though and the great thing is the prices do not change during the summer (you get a lot of teachers going!). It is also only available for adults so a perfect serene atmosphere!!!
Take a look for yourself at http://www.casaferrobo.com/index.php
We are going to book early to avoid disappointment as this place is a real find!!!
