I have just returned from this hotel and I must say from the moment you arrive you are made to feel very welcome. I was travelling via a Thomson Platinum package and on entrance the hotel was very clean and the porter was there and ready to take your bags.
We went to reception where we were greeted by an English speaking member of staff and he went through all the details with us.
The safe was free of charge along with a fridge in the room. The hotel also insures the contents of the safe up to a certain amount. The lifts are quick and efficient; I was on the first floor in room 102 with views to the tennis courts and the pool (only 15 like this) which is normally an extra charge, however because of my title I was given an upgrade for free. The rooms were very clean, and laid out like most hotels.
The safe is big enough for a laptop and should you bring an ethernet cable the internet is totally free in your room. Wi-Fi in the reception is charged. Cables can be given with a deposit.
I would recommend the room upgrade as it makes your holiday more pleasurable even if you think “It’s only a place to sleep” because we all like luxury :). There are three pools, one large one and the rest for children I think the pool vodka and punch slushes are excellent and I recommend you make the most of these.
The nightclub in the hotel is also a good extra and where normal all inclusive closes for drinks at 12am, this allows you to carry on until 1.30pm, should you wish. Towels are available for a 10euro deposit from reception and you can swap them around the pool.
The food is the same as all inclusive and to be honest by the end you will want to go out to a restaurant which I recommend. But it is good quality and piping hot. I would say definitely go to the Asian restaurant (pre book the night before).
The entertainment I think was good but I never watched it as over the years, travelling all over there is only so many tribute acts one can handle. The cleaners, pool staff, restaurant, etc, are all helpful and polite.
At our welcome meeting the director for each department throughout the hotel was present which is not something you normally get, the manager and his assistant were present and the manager spoke about the hotel and introduced the different directors. He also made it clear that should you have any issue tell them there and then, and not to wait to the last day as there is nothing they can do then, which is totally true.
The Thomson rep Carla has only been there 8 weeks at that resort but is very clued up and been on all the trips. I recommend the adult only cruise costing 53 euros per person with transfers included; you get off the boat onto the speed boats and go in the caves and also go to a secluded beach and enjoy a BBQ. They do do this same trip for families.
Overall I highly recommend this hotel to families especially and anyone that is thinking of going, just book it. You may wish to consider renting a car if you want good shops, like Armani and such like as the ones around there are just the lilo type; however it is a small town so you can’t expect to see designer shops.
However 25mins away is Vilamoura which is where the rich and famous hang out and one can expect to find the more high class shops. This is around 14euros in a taxi. There is also Albufeira in the opposite direction which is around 15mins and offers some good shops and eating restaurants. You can however use the buses for around 3 Euros but that’s the last thing I wanted when on holiday. The choice is yours.
