We stayed here for 8 days at the beginng of November and had such a good holiday. Weather was varied, with two days of rain, but the temperature often got to 24 C.Plenty of sun.
Highlights were :the delicious dinners, cooked by Jill, and eaten all together around the big farmhouse table; Having breakfast outside our rooms, in sunshine, on our own little tables under the eaves of the house.; Reading on the terrace , enjoying a drink and watching the sun go down.Tickling the dog's ears!
Jill and Julio took very good care of us. I wanted an indoor heated pool to swim and was directed to a nearby golf club/spa which was excellent (too cold for us in Nov outside at the quinta).
We walked on the west coast - amazing seascapes and fish restaurants,
and walked on coastal paths along the south ( favourite place - Bergau).
We really enjoyed the Fado singing in a restaurant and a Tango dance show in the cultural centre in Lagos. Surfing beaches near Lagos are amazing, with a bird sanctuary there as well.
Plenty of other areas to explore, in the mountains and further east around Faro.
Our rooms were huge and comfortable with two enormous bathrooms to choose from - we had one each! The bed was very comfortable indeed, so we slept later and later each day. .

We returned to the Quinta for the second year in a row, this time with a 8 1/2 month in tow, and had another great week. Jill's and Julio's hospitality made us feel like we had never been away, and they went out of their way to make sure the little one was happy and comfortable.
The cooked breakfasts were delicious as ever, and the communal dinner yet again a perfect combination of informality and great food - and so wonderful for us parents to be able to enjoy a meal, a glass of wine and some adult conversation with the baby sleeping safely only a few hudred yards away, in easy baby alarm reach.
The Quinta is a great place not only for couples but also for families even with very small children. We certainly hope to be back soon.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Quinta and can highly recommend it to other potential guests. The Quinta is set in the countryside, but within easy reach of the wonderful beaches, it's very peaceful and we were totally relaxed from day one. Our hosts, Jill and Julio, have a wealth of knowledge of the area and can't do enough to ensure your stay with them is enjoyable. We particularly enjoyed our breakfast each day on the terrace and the evening meals prepared by Jill were a real treat. All in all a wonderful holiday.

This was our second visit to Quinta das Achadas, the first being the previous year. My husband and I thought it was hard to beat last year's experience but I have to say we enjoyed it even more this year. Jill and Julio are the perfect hosts - warm, friendly and such good fun and we also look forward to the friendly banter with the other guests at breakfast and the evening dinners on the roof terrace. Need I add that the food is delicious too! Top marks! We tried a different apartment this year and loved it so much we booked to go back next year within a day of returning home which is a first for us. As the weather was so good, we didn't clock up many miles in the rental car and just enjoyed relaxing either on the patio or around the pool. However, Jill did recommend an excellent walk starting in Benagil complete with good lunchtime restaurant. We also ate in their recommended local restaurant in Arao - way off the beaten track, an absolute treat and extremely good value. To their credit, Jill and Julio know the area well and they will happily plan your days for you - now how effortless is that! To put our holiday experience at Quinta das Achadas in a nutshell, we wouldn't think of staying anywhere else in the Algarve and we look forward to returning on a regular basis.
