“Very good experience near Akrotiri!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

My family stayed two nights in june 2008 at the Hotel Mathios Village. We have earlier stayed in more tourist populated areas in Santorini as Fira, Oia and Kamari. This time we wanted to relax and the hotel offer a more secluded and quiet atmosphere. The hotel area is in good condition and clean. The room was big and clean.
Positive: Good service, Big swimmingpool, near one of the best beaches in Santorini: Red Beach, walking distance to the small village of Akrotiri with nice greek tavernas, near the arcilogical site. Negative: far away from the busy nightlife and tourist areas so you need taxi or a car(but also positive), the hotel is situated right by the main road to Akrotiri (The road is not so busy). All in all a very good experience

Room Tip: Get a room near the pool area, and not near the main road.

“A real gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

If you read the reviews on this hotel it is inevitable that someone will find a grievance but our experience along with most others is only one of compliments to Kostas, his family and staff.
The island of Santorini is unique and finding Hotel Mathios Village (via Trip Advisor) made our visit perfect. From the moment we arrived Kostas and all his family and staff made us feel very welcome. Akrotiri is a small village with easy access to all the islands attractions and provides a relaxing environment away from all the hustle of both Fira and Oia. There setting is stunning but spoilt by the abundance of boutique type shops appealing to all the cruise line visitors that stop off most days. The hotel is a series of small individual blocks in local architectural style built around the two beautifully maintained swimming pools to form a super courtyard. There is even a private chapel that at night when lit up looks stunning. The rooms are very comfortable, spotlessly clean and it is well worth up-grading to one with a balcony. We had dinner most evenings which was all excellent home-made cooking that even adhered to my "no cucumber please" requirements.
Kostas helped us with ideas as to what we should do and see whilst in Santorini. The boat trip around the islands and walk up the old volcano on Nea Kameni was well worth the effort.
All in all an excellent find and one we would highly recommend to anyone visiting Santorini. Hope we can make a return visit one day!

Room Tip: On the upper floor with a balcony overlooking the pools

I would recommend this hotel very much. It is the cleanest hotel one would ever wish to stay. The owner is very helpful. The grounds are beautiful with a small chapel. You can walk to a small village where there are restaurants. There is a bus that goes to Thira and Mr. Kostas was very helpful for us to rent a car which was only 44 euros for a whole day.

“Recomendation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

I would like to recomend this Hotel in Santorini, Greece.
It's a familiar hotel, the owner is very receptive and kind. We also meet his mother who makes delicious dishes at the restaurant inside the hotel.
The hotel is well located, close to Red Beach.
There are two swimming pool and the bar and restaurant are in this area, very beautiful at night.
