“France without the jet lag”

We spent 5 nights at this lovely resort on the Atlantic coast side of the island. We were celebrating a special occasion, so this was a splurge, and well worth it. Exquisitely maintained, and very quiet and private, this was a real respite. The pool is lovely; the beach is rather small but nice & well protected by the offshore reef. We had our own plunge pool. Our room was tastefully decorated, and we enjoyed the outdoor shower. Due to the constant breeze off the Atlantic there were always wind-surfers and kite-surfers enjoying the sea. We spoke French, but the staff was prepared to address us in English or French. The meals were wonderful. The croissants at breakfast tasted just like the ones in Paris. There are 2 restaurants, one more casual by the beach, and one more formal. We typically had a drink in the bar and then wandered over to the formal restaurant for excellent French cuisine. We really enjoyed this little trip to "Europe" in the Caribbean!

“What a great place to unwind”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2010

Spent 18 days there and never wanted to leave. Beautiful setting. Great food in two restaurants. Great service. Expensive for sure but my feeling is that in this case, we got what we paid for.

Here's an example of great service: We left very early on Christmas morning, having arranged a taxi the day before. The taxi didn't show (there were roadblocks with police checking for drunk drivers, so it wasn't the taxi's fault). We were getting more and more nervous, so the night desk clerk, who was coming off duty at seven a.m., offering to take us in his own car on the one hour round trip to the airport. As we were driving out the gate the taxi showed up, so in the end, the night clerk didn't have go all the way to the airport, but we were touched by his concern and response.

“Private Paradise”

My wife and I just returned from Le Cap Est Lagoon and Spa. It was our 20th Anniversary and we were looking for something small and quiet. For us this was a wonderful resort. Our trip was enhanced by the special attention that Wosie at breakfast provided. You could simply tell that she was happy to make you happy, even through the language barrier. She only spoke French and we only spoke English. Her presence and attitude are truly a wonderful compliment to the resort.

Here are the Pro's and Con's:

1. Loved the Island of Martinique
2. Very Private
3. Friendly and Accomadating Staff
4. Good Food
5. Quite, mostly couples
6. Small size, only 50 suites. Maybe 15 were occupied when we were there.
7. Great location on the Island.
8. Large Rooms
9. Serene Setting.

Con's (Mostly small and not a problem)

1. The Lunch and Dinner menu are very similar.
2. We were there 3 days and the dinner menu did not change.
3. At first they could not find our reservation. This was quickly corrected.
4. Martinique is not easy to get to from the US.
5. Slight language barrier. Unlike France where the second language is English.
6. Fitness room is small. One treadmill did not work. Not very well equipped.

Overall this is one of the best resorts we have been to in the Caribbean Islands.

If you are looking for peace and quite and some uninterrupted time with your spouse or signifigant other I can't think of too many other places that would top Le Cap Est.

Rent a car and explore the island. The resort will arrange it for $53 Euros a day. The island is easy to find your way around. Make sure you know how to drive a stick and see the beauty of Martinique.

We were able to get this as part of an American Airline package so the value for us was very good.

Highly recommend.

“Pamper yourself in this unique resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 March 2010

Le Cap Est Lagoon Resort & Spa is the very best you will find in Martinique. Just go there and do your own experience! You will be nicely surpriced. A warm welcoming await you in the wood-structure open-air reception, together with wet towels to refresh your face and a very sweet delicious tea. Let you accompany to your oversized room, relax in the comfortable bed or in the bathroom or take the outdoor shower :-) You are few steps from the beach, so go for a small walk after dinner, where the meals are lovely and professional decorated on your plates. The cosmetics in the spa are high-class leveled also. Enjoy the stay by listening to the birds who are singing always in doppel pack - no bird is alone there. It is a wonderful concert for your mind in the evening. And take photos, the best quality you will reach in the late afternoon hours, after the sky becomes oceanly blue. Pamper yourself. Just go there.

““The perfect place in MARTINIQUE”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2010

My husband and I just returned from spending a week at the Cap Est. It was a wonderful spot. You have the feeling that you are staying at a private villa . The view of the ocean from the pool and the outdoor "living room" is spectactular. I am an interior designer and probably pickier than most with respect to decor and the hotel exceeded my expectations. The rooms are nicely appointed and very comfortable and many have views of the ocean. The restaurant is exceptional for dinner we only wished that we had dined their more frequently during our stay since the restaurant was much better than the others that we went to on the island. You won't go wrong by choosing this as your place to stay on the island.
