“Superb location, decent hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011

If you are looking for a 5 star hotel on the beach front, this is not it. But it more than makes up with its superb location right there on the beautiful pristine beach.
Rooms are ok. Mosquitoes can suck all your blood out. so go prepared with repellant.
Bathroom was passable, if you are not too fussy.
Breakfast was a treat, and if you eata everything that is served to you, you may not have any need for lunch! The bread was awesome.
While sitting at the breakfast tables, be ready to hear the splash of waves hitting the walls of the restaurant !! A wonderful feeling !
Their waiters were very friendly and were running about everywhere with a smile trying to get things to you in time.
But be prepared if you want your meals in time. You need to pre-order them.
Though we did not try any of the water sports that they offered, we were more than pleased with just strolling along the beach and doing our own thing.\
Total value for money !

“Beautiful Relaxation”

What a wonderful piece of heaven. Upon arrival I was greated like I was part of the family. The reception staff were always available with a smile and able to help in arranging day trips in the area. The area the hotel/guest house is a place that can be an adventure for anyone. See a Buddhist Temple, a fish market/marina, take a walk along the beach, take a boat trip to the adjacent lighthouse and island, or if you want attend a PADI course and get a SCUBA raiting at the onsite PADI dive center. I went to enjoy the on location spa to relax and shed a few pounds. Upon my return to Iraq (Deployed) I learned I had lost 8kgs. The spa has excellent staff that provide medicimal and physical therapy. Messages of all sorts, steam table, oil treatment, acupunture all under the care of a doctor. The rooms are comfortable with shower and toilet included. The onsite restraunt provides local, western and German affair. The Torte was awesome :-) I enjoyed my stay at Ypyslon and will indeed return in the future because of the awesome location, exceptional staff and the ability to relax.

“Clean, well-run, and right on the beach, but beware of the Ayurveda center!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2011

We had a wonderful stay, 8 nights, at the Ypsylon guest house. The facilities include a small pool and a restaurant, there is also a diving school and an Ayurveda center (a bit more on this later).

Our room was large, with a small balcony facing the sea. It was clean, the sparse furnishings are modern and new, and the bed comes with a mosquito net. The hotel is right on the beach, which is very nice, there are showers and shaded spots, while the small pool is in the interior court.

The restaurant, and its wonderful staff, serves fresh seafood, they get their catch daily, and also offers typical German fare. Breakfast is a choice of fruit plate or juice, eggs, butter and jam, tea or coffee. Overall the food was above-average and the staff courteous and friendly.

Our only negative surprise was with the Ayurveda center/spa attached to the hotel, which is staffed by shameless personnel of dubious character. I booked a 1-day package, which gives a choice of 5 treatments for a total price of 45 euros. The treatments, which included different type of massages and an infusion, were cut short, for instance the 50-minutes full body massage lasted only 35 minutes, the 20-minutes only 10. Sadly, I didn't terribly mind the significantly shortened experience, as the woman that gave the massages had an incessant hacking cough and was obviously quite sick. The creepy fellow that manages the center was unapologetic and after agreeing to settle the bill at the of the day, he went on harassing us multiple times, even while eating, to remind that we still haven't paid for the treatments...

Small beachfront property, good food, good service and excellent sea views. Very chilled and relaxed. Good for divers.
