Stayed here for one night as part of a Sri Lanka tour organised by Walkers Tours. This hotel is listed as 4 stars and even has the cheek to have 4 stars above the check-in desk. It is by far one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in and I am well travelled.
We had two twin rooms on the ground floor initially. The sockets were hanging off the walls with the wires exposed, the mini bar was so covered in mildew inside and out, the lampshades were covered in mould and the bathrooms were disgusting. The hotel was packed with locals who were all hanging around the hallways outside the rooms making quite a bit of noise. The room was simply not safe for children and when I went back to reception and complained they moved us to the first floor. The rooms here were fractionally better, in that the sockets were securely on the walls and there was less mould on the lampshade and mini bar but the bathrooms were disgusting. There was hair in the shower, so clearly it had not been cleaned from the previous guests and the water wouldn't go away in the shower as the pipe was blocked.
The restaurant was a buffet restaurant but with no one to seat you or to organise the food counters it was a free for all. Once you got to the food it was hardly worth the wait. The service in the restaurant was very poor - we had to ask cutlery as there was none (maybe it was in a tray somewhere like a motorway services) and there were no napkins, not even paper ones (but it's a '4 star' hotel!).
All in all this was an awful hotel and I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.
