We went to this hotel on 14 January 2011 on an all inclusive through Thomsons and when our flight landed at 2030 we thought that as our hotel was 15 mins drive from the airport we would be dropped off first. Wrong. About 90 minutes later we arrived at the hotel, last passengers in the coach.
The check in was swift and professional but unfortunately we were too late to get food so had to go to the nearby store for rolls and meat. Something to bear in mind if you have children and the flight arrivals are late evening. Tea, coffee and alochol is available till midnight and the kettle in the room was put to good use.
Our room was 713 and had fantastic views of the pools, ocean and grounds. The room itslef was spotless and the cleaning staff changed towels daily and bedding every couple of days and ensured the bathroom was well stocked with soap etc.
The balcony was ideal for our purposes and there were a couple of days when it was windy and we sat in the sheltered balcony and enjoyed the sunshine. The split level room was delightful.
The hotel and grounds were immaculate and all the staff had a friendly attitude and were willing to assist without hesitation.
The restaurants;
In the morning, the place if full of families but there is a room at the end of the restaurant for adults only the peace and quiet of this room was well appreciated.
The quality of food was exceptional and I would question any comments made to the effect that there was a restricted variety of food available.
The only noticeable down side of this was the fact that there were so many children in the hotel that there was an absence of hand sanitizers throughout the dining areas
There were plenty of loungers available and we never had any problem finding them.
It was obvious that the hotel mainly caters for the Nordic nations as virtually all the entertainment was in Swedish/Finnish and this was well supported by the Nordic families.
Despite this, we just got on with it and enjoyed ourselves nevertheless. This was ,as far I can recall, not mentioned at any level in the booking stage and may have left a poor impression on some of the British tourists.
This was highlighted when travelling in the lift, I spoke to an elderly English couple who voiced their opinion that it was a bit much that there were 'approx 900 of them [Nordics] and only about 90 of us. I asked her who 'us' exactly were to which she replied 'Why us English of course' I thought that her comment to me, particularly as I am Scottish , described her naivity and I gave her my thoughts on her statement. She never spoke to me again. Shame.
The hotel is ideal for young families and I am sure that despite the fact that there is a large Nordic attendance, the young children of most nationalities all manage to play together despite the language difficulties.
If your holiday is one whereby you prefer to hold onto the British way of life , then you may be slightly disappointed by the various cultural differences, but if on the other hand you are looking for a break and do not have any hang ups regarding being in the minority, given the quality, cleanliness and all round package, then this may be just what you are looking for.
One last small comment, At the airport, don't bother waiting in the queue at Burger King for Tea as it is probably the only Burger King in the world that does not sell it.
Room Tip: Rooms on each floor from 12 to 17 have great views over the pools, beach and ocean
