This was our first holiday without our children. We were looking for nothing else but a relaxing break with sun, good food and drink. We have always done 3* all inclusive holidays with the kids so we thought a step up would give us a bit more luxury and we were not disappointed.
1. Free beach towels, so no need to pack any (saves weight)
2. Plenty of sunbeds although not many in "all day" sun.
3. Lovely grounds with tall trees creating shady areas because there were no individual parasols.
4. Room excellent, plenty of wardrobe space if a little dated.
5. Mini bar in room fantastic, free soft drinks, beer and water. Only the other alcohol was charged to your room.. Re-stocked daily.
6. Daily maid service with fresh towels.
7. No smoking in room although small adequate balcony area.
8. Good air-con, worked as long as the patio door was shut. TOP TIP, don't shut the patio door while on the balcony because you will be locked out!! I did it but fortunately my husband was still in the room, otherwise I have no idea what you would do!
9. Pool quiet during the day, excellent and very clean, NOT salt water.
10. Snack bar excellent, food hot and served to your table.
11. Ice cream variety good, cornetto like cones and lollies, some have an extra charge but most are free with all inclusive.
12. Snack bar dining area is shaded so a nice escape from the sun for a bit. We ate all our lunches here.
13. Drinks, all served in glasses, no plastic for adults at all!
14. International brands all inclusive.
15. Clear drinks menu showing if there were any additional charges.
16. BEST BIT, waiter service for drinks in the evening, excellent when your travelling as a couple, NO BAR QUEUE, very unusual in an all inclusive!
17. Entertainment outside in the evening which was lovely.
18. Entertainment was adequate. Two of the five days we enjoyed a singer, mostly English sing a long classics, excellent! The other nights the entertainment was provided by the entertainment staff, quizzes etc. They weren't pushy, if you didn't want to join in you didn't have to.
19. Restaurant was very clean and the food well presented. Plenty of variety and every night there was either a chef carving a joint or freshly grilled meat/fish.
20. Tables all laid with tableclothes, cutlery and glasses so you only had to self serve your meal.
21. Waiter came very quickly to take drinks order, house white, rose and red were inclusive as were soft drinks and water.
22. They always put your room number on the bottle and tried to give you any remainder the next night. Great I suppose if you were not all inclusive and had paid for your bottle. Top Tip: Rose was the best.
23. Nescafe granules supplied at breakfast, we just used a jug and filled with hot water, excellent, can't beat a good coffee in the morning.
24. HP sauce available too.
25. Restaurant states dress code is long trousers for men at night but this is overlooked, most men were wearing smart shorts and shirts, acceptable we felt for a buffet restaurant.
26. Shop on site to get newspapers, magazines and essentials, open morning and late afternoon.
27. Walk left out the hotel and there is a supermarket 200 yards up the road.
28. Turn right out of the hotel and right at the roundabout, 300 yards and you will come to a very small selection of bars, restaurants(chinese and italian) and shops. There is also a cash point.
29. No tabacs though, the hotel does have a cigarette machine. If you want to stock up on cartons you will have to go into Arenel.
30. Free shuttle bus from the hotel to Arenel and the beach although the taxi was only 9 euros each way and they are always outside the hotel reception so no need to book.
31. Arenel is very busy and appears to be a mainly German resort.
32. TOP TIP, the airport is only 12 minutes from the hotel, we got a transfer and it took us over an hour!! Seemed to drop off lots before the Delta. GET A TAXI.
33. Hotel has six tennis courts and cycle hire although we didn't use them, lots of peple did though, which was why the hotel was so quiet during the day.
34. Didn't use the gym, indoor pool etc so can't comment.
35. 25 euros to keep your room on, although all inclusive stops at midday and they seem very strict about it, eat lunch early from the snack bar and stock up on water, we did!!
36. On arrival the reception staff take a picture of you for the all inclusive key card which opens your room and gets you the all inclusive drinks and food. Might be worth brushing your hair before you check in!
37.The hotel Delta is very quiet, the surrounding area is very quiet, area seems very residential. The beach is a not in comfortable walking distance.
In summary, we loved our holiday, it was everything we were looking for. We both came back relaxed and ready to face our teenagers again!!!
