“Clean, Spacious, Great Pool and Excellent Staff!!”

22 October to 27 October 2011
Me and my wee 4 year old laddie decided at last minute to go off on Holiday somewhere, last minute I mean, booked it on the Thursday, flew out on the Saturday.
We booked into the Luxmar for 5 nights at an excellent price of £107.00 for both of us self catering. Upon arrival we were welcomed by a friendly lad on Reception and had us checked in very promptly! We were then put into the Tropical Apartments in room 315 which looked onto the Pool.
We arrived at around 10pm and immediately found our Air-Con wasn't working. I was extremely impressed when they had a Maintenance / Handy Man still working at that time who went up to the room and sorted it out for us straight away. As an AV Technician I am based in a 4* Hotel as the Venue AV Manager, and at that venue we don't even have a Maintenance man working after 6pm!!
The hotel room itself was extremely clean, and the bathroom itself was far superior to the many 4* Hotels I'm used to staying at. The full room was cleaned everyday with new towels replaced each day as well. Linens were changed every few days.
The Pool was fantastic and excellent for kids, my 4 1/2 year old didn't even need his armbands on thanks to the massive area of the pool which shallow. The other end of the pool was an impressive 2.2m deep which was good for Diving or Flipping into the pool!!
We ate in the restaurant most nights for the Buffet. The staff were excellent and friendly, price was extremely reasonable and my wee lad who can be a difficult eater at the best of times, absolutely loved his dinners.
All in all we had a fantastic time at the hotel, not sure if I'd recommend it for Families in general, luckily there was a few other kids for my wee boy to play with during the day. Evenings i wasn't too bothered as I hired a car out there and we always went a drive before coming back for Dinner. The whole trip was booked so I could chill out from a busy work schedule, and to spend time with my son as I only see him at weekends.

“Great for a late October break!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

Just come back from a 2 night stay at Lux Mar after we managed to get a cheap Ryanair flight and two v cheap nights (£17 ppn) with them through booking.com

we were booked into the Maritimo but it was undergoing a refurb so we stayed at the tropical gardens building within Lux Mar.

The location is great, its at the end of the street so no real traffic keeping you up at night, If you get the choice of which of the 3 buildings to stay in then try and go for the Panoramic as these have sea views. The tropical gardens rooms face in onto the pool but you wont see the sea.

The hotel has wifi access that you can buy in tokens, 1euro gets you 30 mins and you have to use it all in one go, not ideal but then its not the end of the world!

breakfast had a wide choice anything from typical croissants, ham, cheese, cereal to english fry up, all pretty good. didnt try the coffee -the juice was good. also they were so busy that you could pretty much eat as much as you wanted.

the hotel is about 15 mins walk along the coast through a tunnel and into ibiza town, its well lit and pretty safe. alternatively you can walk along the seafront to figuretas/playa den bossa.

there were a lot of bars/gastro pubs in ibiza town but we found there were better restaurants and quality of food in figuretas. we wanted to eat local food and had a really good paella in the restaurant next to the taiwanese place near figuretas beach.

the hotel is near to an 'aqua bus' stop where you can go for the day to formentera (although not after October) we were looking forward to this but the woman who sold us the ticket (by the hotel los molinos hotel) forgot to tell the boat to stop and pick us up (and ten others). She has red hair and nose piercings -not the brightest tool in the draw.

i dont think i'd come here if i was staying a week in the season, it can get pretty noisy with people moving beds/tables etc at night. they have a good pool and a few pool tables but i think its better suited to clubbers and stags/hens even if it is trying to be family orientated.

better i think for a quick break out of season, was mid-20's this week and we both got sunburnt. ibiza town and the beaches nearby are great and this isn't a bad place to base yourself and explore.

Room Tip: go for panoramic block

“Everything fine but VERY BAD COFFEE at breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

Good location!

Clean, nice, quiet and big rooms wit A/C and fridge.
Friendly staff!!
A Spar supermarket is within walking distance.
Breakfast and dinner (were included) were very good and varied daily.

The only negative point:

VERY BAD COFFEE AT BREAKFAST!!!
(And I drank lot of coffee in the US...)

“Very decent holday studio, great location and value”

I don't know how real the negative reviews are but i know that we had no issues staying here whatsoever. Sure its a big hotel with i think three buildings and the staff are a little tired of seeing yet another tourist but i didn't interact with them that often so it wasn't an issue. They were not rude and corridors and public areas are fitted with security cameras.

We got a seaview studio for 42euros a night, two beds, a kitchenette, refrigirator, iron board, tv, a/c, and working bathroom with very hot water. Walls are a little thinner than usual but nothing serious. Doors are little flimsy and you MUST look them from outside with the key when you leave. Elevator needs maintenance :-) No safes in the room but i just lock my suitecase to the bed with laptop and valuables inside.

The WiFi sucked, you need to buy prepaid minutes and use them all in one go 1Eu for 30min or 2 for 90min, it was a pain but i was only there for 3 night to care too much about that.

What i really liked was the location. Its the closest hotel on the 'Ramon Muntaner ' strip to ibizi center, and down some stairs to the beach promenande. Try the Fusion cafe, its awesome!

We did enjoy our stay in ibiza in general, and WOULD stay here again. No reason not to. Hotel accross the road was 120 per night.

Room Tip: Choose seaview in the panoramic building

“Great location, could do with updating though”

I've read several bad reviews on this site about Lux Mar, but I didn't find it that bad for what we paid. The apartments are very basic and in need of an upgrade, but they served their purpose for a few days if you are in Ibiza for the clubs/bars and they are pretty reasonable value for money (booked through travel republic and think it was something like 30 euros a night or less). The reception staff I spoke to on checking in, checking out and to hire a moped were all very friendly and helpful. The location is very good - 10 mins walk or so from Ibiza Town, 5 mins to Figueretas and 20 mins or so to Playa Den Bossa. Even though we were there during the closing parties I didn't find it too noisy to sleep (although you can hear doors banging etc, so soundproofing isn't very good). I probably wouldn't stay in Lux Mar again as I'e stayed in apartments nearby for roughly the same price that were nicer (Maritimo across the road, which has great sea views) but if (like me) you don't tend to spend much time in your apartment except to get a few hours sleep then they are tolerable.
