“Great...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2007

Hotel Generally:- Rooms in 2 or 3 floor buildings, different styles, set in gardens on a Hill, Nice, clean, In good Repair.

Rooms:- My room was a double (2 single beds, which we pushed together), in a 2 floor circular block of about 12 rooms. Very nice, If I didn't have a real life, I'd be happy to live there! Everything was in good order, and clean. room had a bathroom, TV, Aircon, Fridge, Table and Chairs, outside table and chairs, Radio Alarm clock.

Food:- Quite nice for hotel buffet food. Nothing spicy or out of the ordinary, but I guess they have to cater for a lot of different people, and this is the middle ground. No need to arrive early, as everything was refilled.

Pools:- Clean, not too much Chlorine, no lifeguard, but I don't care about this, as I don't have kids.

Bars:- We were there All Inclusive. Plastic glasses around the pool, glass in the evenings. In the AI program were all soft drinks, Beer (1/2 pints), wine, Sangria, local spirits. The choice on AI was good, and the barmen wern't tight with the measures or funny with you if you drink quickly. Bar prices for those who have to pay looked reasonable, cheaper than the bars in the centre of town.

Disco:- Cheesy, but OK for a late drink, open till 2am.

Cleaning:- Good, nice small touches from the cleaning ladies. I left a laptop, mobile and coins e.t.c. lying around the room most of the week, and nothing went missing.

Shop:- Beach shop is about 20% more expensive than in town, Supermarket is expensive, a lot of things are double the price (or more) compared to a real supermarket.

Sports facilities e.t.c.:- As I'm quite a lazy person, I didn't really use these, but they looked good. I played minigolf, which was OK, although the course could do with a lick of paint. I was quite impressed that almost everything was included in the AI program, Diving or Mountain biking for instance. I think you have to pay for the better tennis courts and the sauna though.

Entertainment program:- Was OK... A lot of it wasn't my cup of tea, but I'm not a family with kids... The evening shows were quite good, daytime activities varied, the entertainment people were good fun. The club song (with special dance - 4 times a day) was quite annoying, But then again I'm not a family / Kid... Entertainment program was in German / English / Spanish (Sometimes they translated into french also).

No-one spoke Czech there, which wasn't a problem for me (native english speaker), was sometimes problematic for the Czech tourists. Maybe it would be useful for them to employ a Czech speaker somewhere on site, as they have 2 Czech Tour operators sending people there.

Other Tourists:- While I was there I would say 60% Germans, 30% Czechs, and the other 10% split French / Dutch / English / Others. It was quite good there wern't many english people... Not so many badly behaved kids, loud people, people complaining about not having a fried breakfast... :)

Surrounding Area:- 2 Nice beaches about 5 mins walk away. A couple of Bars / resteraunts next to the hotel. The town is about 20 mins walk away (quickest way is down to the beach, then along the coastline).

Complaints:- Not a lot really... It would be good if they have a vending machine or something... We arrived at 3am, and thirsty, no water for sale, and tap water isn't drinkable (generally, not just in this hotel).

Same problem after dinner in the evenings... No munchies available to buy... Bar doesn't have snacks / crisps / nuts for sale. No local shops after 5pm. It's OK after the first day, as you know to stock up with snacks from the local shops.

Overall:- Very good, I had a nice holliday there especially for the price (we paid 10,000Kc (£250) each for 6 nights AI, including flights from Prague). Not really much to complain about at all...

  • Liked — Good AI Program on top of quite good hotel.
  • Disliked — small details... lack of vending machine, expensive internet access

“Could do better”

We stayed in Stella Maris for 2 nights. When we arrived we were impressed: the hotel complex is very big and build on the side of a small mountain. The complex includes 650 rooms, 6 tennis courts, disco, beach volley and 3 swimming pools. Our problems started with check in. We arrived at 17.00 and they told us that according to their records we had already checked in in the morning. We spend 45 minutes to solve that. Then we asked a porter for our luggage. From the reception they send the luggage to another room. We spend more than one hour to find them. Food had limited choice. When we wanted to ckeck out we were looking for a taxi to ddrive us to the airport. They were anable to help us from the reception: the taxi number they had was busy and the hotel did not had a private bus. The hotel staff does not speak english! Cleaning was ok. It is a hotel that can definitely improve from the customer service and organization point of view.

“Nice hotel... good points, bad points”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2007

The hotel is really nice, lots of facilities. The rooms are nice and clean and a good size. We had a beautiful view from our balcony too.

On arrival, at about 2am we were given our room key and a map of the hotel. (Its huge.) Our room was at the top of the hill, up steps and steep paths. We found it very difficult to get our heavy cases up to the room... (2 girls) and it was rather dangerous. It would have been nice if we had had some help.

Another bad point also are the staff at the receiption desk, they seemed very rude throughout our stay.

Also taxi's cannot be booked in advance, so when you want one you can be waiting 1 to 2 hours just to get out on a night. ..... also the hotel staff are not keen to ring you a taxi.. they gave us the number and we had to ring from our mobile phone... which was not impressive.

We spent our time in San Antonio on nights , there are not many bars around the hotel... but it depends what kind of nightlife you are after.

The pool areas are nice... the smaller pool is much more quiet and relaxing for those who like to get away from noisy kids.

The beach is not too far away, and is nice.

Rooms have air conditioning which is great.

Overall really enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

  • Liked — Views, quiet location away from hustle and bustle, beach
  • Disliked — Unfriendly receiption staff

“Distinctly Average”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2007

we stayed here from the 12/07/2007 for nine nights

the hotel itself is lovely and the staff are friendly enough, We stayed all inclusive, the food and is distinctly average and breakfast and lunch menus don’t change, (well they didn't while we where there) Due the high rate of Germans at the hotel the food seems to be aimed at them. and i felt penalized at times for not liking this type of food ( i have a very open mind when it comes to food.

The only major gripe was the fact that booking a double room would ensure a double bed but this wasn't the case and my partner and I ended sleeping separately for the whole trip. The room itself was on a very steep hill as many of the room are and wouldn't be very appropriate for anyone with walking difficulties or with disability issues

Due to the wall to wall Germans all of the entertainment is also in their language. and aimed solely at them as are the kids club games etc.

on the plus side the beach is only 300meters away, and there is some lovely restaurants just behind the hotel if you choose to each out and avoid the average food, San Antonio is only a short bus ride or taxi, and you can get taxi boats there to some more lovely beaches

Ibiza is lovely, and the hotel is ok is just a pity about the company

“excellent place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2007

I stayed at club stella maris on the 14th may 2007 for one week with my 80 year old father me being 44, Have to say for the price we paid it was excellent value, If like me you was looking for two single rooms on all inclusive holiday,( not easy to find ) If your young and looking for nice quite place in day time with plenty to do then want to get a taxies into nightlife this is for you as is about a 10 min drive away, OR if you a family this place as all you could ask for to keep the kids and you occupied. Now there are some bad points depending on how Mobil you are the apartments are on a hill and go higher up into the hill the higher your room number is not so good if your hard at walking but we was low down in rooms 101 and 104.The beach is also down hill which once you is there you will find two very pretty beaches both with toilets shower and bar serving hot cold food and drinks, but there is quite a climb back up if your not as Mobil as you once was then you can walk the long way round takes 3 times as long but your not puffed out, as I said my dad is 80 he managed it very slowly. Now the only other bad point for my dad but not for me was 90% of the other guest were German so he had nobody to chat with. But the good points far out way the bad ones its very very clean the site its spotless the rooms pools gardens and all public areas, there,s plenty to do on camp they have a full programmed of events everyday including guided walks & cycling tours, you can hire fresh beach towels every day for a small 5 Euro returnable deposit they have a shop and super market 3 pools and plenty of different seating areas so you never feel crowded, all the staff a very friendly you can hire a car or trip right from the hotel and there is a bus stop right outside the reception which we used very often takes you to santantony cost 120 Euro about a £1 from here you can go to many places all over the island (oh and you must go on the train ride from here takes 2 hours but the guy is so funny).Night time entertainment was great for the kids later they have adult stuff like magic show’s etc and later there is even a on site night club but you would never know we was nearest to it and never heard a thing. The food is excellent its well cooked plenty of it ( my dad had 5 different puddings every meal )and its quite varied ok don’t expect steak or 5star but you will live a certainly be full up, breakfast is the least varied, the all-inclusive ice creams that get from the pool bar are a little small but u can have as many as you want. I also recommend going into Ibiza old city you can get there on the local bus much cheaper than on the coach it’s a full day out but well worth it Oh and watch out for the nudists on the rocks gave my dad quite a shock LOL ( its is allowed but not on the beach I don’t think)
I would def stay here again and have no problem recommending it.
