“Feel the luxury of this hotel”

I was a day late arriving at the Kresten Palace because of an airline strike, but my agent in Lismore NSW contacted them for me and my room was available when I arrived. It was late in the evening. A porter showed me to my room and showed me how to use the entry card and took my bag up there for me. The room was very comfortable. I loved the variety of food at breakfast and dinner. The evenings were amazing. Three lines of Germans watching the big TV and World Cup, kids' club person doing songs with little kids. People playing cards, others having cocktails and the largest beer glasses I have ever seen. Live music or DJ. By the pool the bar was great and they put on music I wanted to hear i.e. Greek music. Buses into the town are often too full to take people. Combine with 4 people all up and get a taxi for the same price. Very relaxing and glitzy place. You feel a million dollars staying here and it's not expensive. Be careful not to lock yourself out on your balcony. It happened to me and there were only two people about 6 balconies away who did not share any of my languages, but with charades they understood and got a hotel person to come to my room and let me back in. I had a great time there.

“Double booking - regular practice in Kresten Palace”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2011

From 16.09. to 23.09.2011 we spent our holidays in hotel Kresten Palace, Rhodes.Upon arrival at the hotel reception desk we were aware of the fact that the room that we have paid for (family room with balcony) was busy. At the hotel they offered us an alternative room, by the 12.00 hours next day. When we had seen this room, we found that it is a small emergency room. There was:
• the distribution box and fuse for the whole wing of the hotel,
• unsecured wires stuck out from the wall,
• the room had a small window just below the ceiling,
• there was no balcony,
• the bed was 140 cm in width, with a very small bathroom and toilet and
• practically without free cabinets (room pictures are attached).

We went back to the reception desk and said that we do not want to take this room. The receptor told us, that there has been no any other vacant rooms, so we had moved to this room for one night. The receptor offered us a compensation for this event and offered us free of charge safe, we had rejected this.
We would like to say that also two Italian couples have also had the same problem on that exact day. Incidentally we were in the hotel lobby of 21.9. witnessed the same situation that happened a few guests from Germany, who paid their holidays through a travel agency 1-2-Fly. We think that such an aproach to guests is in this hotel a regular practice, because that way they can fill hotel peak.
• Also their excuse was not honest. They told us about the strike at the airport and that they hade taken back guests to their rooms, because they had still not being cleaned and prepared for new guests. About this strike nobody we had spoken to didn not know anything.

“Great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

This is an excellent hotel. Very clean and well maintained. Massive pools and plenty of sunbeds. Friendly staff and great cocktails included with the all inclussive. The buffet food was good but would liked have had a more greek selection. If you are looking for a place to relax and chill by the pool this is the place for you.

Room Tip: Book now!!

“helpful ideas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

we arrived thursday 8th september. and thought what a nice hotel staff very friendly, helpfull, room good clean ,plenty of space .nice views.food very very good both for evening and breakfast,if your going look out for a waitress called anne, she is brill, makes you very welcome and her team are as good as her. the pool area also good nice and big ,not to deep that you can,t stand up in it(unless your under a certain height)again lovely staff at the pool bar ,good lunch time snacks there as well.Down side the price of the drinks bacardi and coke £5.80(euro the was 1 for 1) and its not real bacardi, coffee £4.bottle house wine red or white £14 plus.If you want cheaper and real drinks there are two bars near by one down the main road out side the hotel called the pal something or other£3.50 bacardi and an other
one near the shore which is very nice and is also a fish resturant but to get to it is abit iffy, you go past the pool area and head for the sea you go down a path to the left of some apartments and then theres a track to the left just keep on down this track and you can,t miss it.Theres entertainment each night, mostly flaming awfull but some good nights.there is a frenchman i supose you would call him a dj(i was calling him other names) who runs the shows,he has three others to help him a young lad from latvia who should go back there and two girls the one from england was very good.Have a game of bingo it took us one hour to do a line the dj was shouting the numbers in about 5/6 langs and he has the most boring voice if it wasn,t for the price of the drinks i would have got drunk.but there is a very good greeknight which was superb and a pool side party also very good even with the french dj
Apart from that my wife and i enjoyed it very much ,the hotel is handy for rhodes town both by bus and taxi,s and a must to go to is the local springs on this beach 1euro bus 3euros to get in worth it

Room Tip: ask for a pool view or garden view

“Great vacations! we highly recomend Kresten palace.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

We arrived at 04am (Sunday-Monday) and the reception was open and waiting for us, after a quick check in, we received a meal coupon because we dint had that dinner, because the charter airplane was late several hours.
Monday morning we checked the hotel premises and what services and conditions were offered for a Half Board accommodation.
The breakfast have lots to offer, from the yogurts, several different fruits, cereals, bacon, fried eggs, scrambled, sausages, cakes etc.
The swimming pool is big, with lots of sun beds for laying down, and for what i could saw with a exercise team that performs gymnastics and other activities inside the swimming pool. The beach is practically private to the hotel and another hotel on the side. its only 200m down the road, but the hotel charges 2,5€ per sunbed all day on the beach. Snorkeling material is recommended and also some rubber shoes for walking in the pebbles and sand. The water are very warm, about 26ºC and transparent, perfect for diving!
The room is nice, nothing special, and if you rate the hotels by the latest tile fashion, you wont like it. for us we don't care much if on the walls are expensive stone, but we like silence, and because the hotel my guess is that its from the 90's, the walls don't have the proper sound isolation, so we can hear the neighbors sometimes, but not that much.
Swimming pool bar serves tasty hot meals, and the daily special is about 7-8€, for what i could see, its the hotel manager itself that cooks int the swimming pool bar during the day!
In the evening we went for dinner, and again excellent food with lots to offer in the vegetables, salads, at least 2 fish dish and 2 with meat, deserts are always being added and the food is very tasty! being Half-Board, the 0,5L water costs 2,5€
We rented a car and spent most time traveling around the Island and also we did a tour to Symi Island, that i highly recommend!!!
There is a hotel shop where you can buy newspapers, water, beer, suncream and some souvenirs and gifts.
There is always night activities like the Greek night, that we missed, then some live music and dancing, and some days "mini-disco", but as we weren't interested we didn't pay a lot of attention.
The dinner buffet is great and everything there are new things to eat, and all of them very tasty.
Last day, the check out is at 12, and our flight was only at 23, so we staid all day in the beach, and before dinner, the Hotel lent us a room for 30 minutes shower and change, for us it was a great last day!
As there is no ATM machines in the hotel, and the closest one are about 1000m we didn't had enough money, only credit card in the last day, so we used the free meal coupon we had and the hotel manager offered us 2 waters for dinner. a nice gesture that we gladly accepted.
It was a lovely week! thank you.

Room Tip: I like some quiet rest, so check if the rooms are far away from the bar area.
