“Eden Roc in August 2011”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Went there for a 10 day vacation from 14-24 August last year, just didn't get a chance to write a review. First of all we booked through Booking.com - they made a mistake and gave us an all inclusive package for the price of room with breakfast only! Two weeks later, I started getting messages from them and the hotel about the mixup. Didn't budge and let them solve it between themselves. In the end, Mr. Geronikolas who is the general manager and the son of the owner of the hotel, agreed to honour the reservation because we had already purchased the air tickets to Rhodes from Toronto. As soon as we arrived there, we loved it! Got nice two rooms on the third floor and the best view overlooking the whole bay! Also, upon our arrival the manager sent a fruit basket to each of our rooms and the fruit was delicious! What a nice touch! I have to mention the ladies working at the front desk, one Brit, one Russian, one Austrian - VERY HELPFUL, loved them all! I'm sorry I can't remember their names, it's been a few months since we came back. One thing I have to say about the buffet restaurant is - the food is absolutely AMAZING! Very tasty and our son never had a problem finding something he liked. Snacks were very basic with pizza slices and cheese and ham etc. If you are not picky about this, you'll be fine. The only thing that I didn't like is that they didn't let us take some fruit out from the restaurant for a snack (I am talking about one banana and not a bag full of fruit) and yet, there was no fruit provided at the snack bar. There is no reason that they can't provide a small seleciton of fruit for snack time in my opinion, so I hope they improve on that for the sake of their future customers.

Internet works best in the hotel lobby, there's not a good reception on the third floor, so if you want it, ask to be placed closer to the lobby and then you can use it in your room. One other thing about the internet is that that's charged extra few euros per week, unlike in many other resorts where it comes free of charge - I'd suggest to them to consider changing their policy on this. Not that it is a big matter, but it would be a big bonus.

Sun beds are free of charge at the pool side, but not on the beach where you pay 3 euros per sunbed. It adds up if there's 4 of you. In my opinion this should be free of charge if you are getting an all inclusive deal like everywhere else in the world (well, maybe not Greece).

Having said all of this, I cannot but emphasize the fact that we had a great vacation there with friendly staff and great service. I do recommend the hotel and things that have been mentioned above should be taken as constructive critisism by the owners.

Hope this helps. Any questions, just let me know and I'll do my best to answer them.

Room Tip: If you have a problem with your AC report it right away and they'll fix it.

“Just average...”

We stayed for a week all-inclusive at the Eden Roc hotel in September 2011.

We arrived very early morning and was given a double room when we booked a twin. After speaking to Reception, the Manager and our Tour Rep (who all argued we had booked a double despite us having the paperwork to say otherwise), we were given a twin room.

The rooms were nice, although the jungle theme was different! Beds were comfortable and the rooms were cleaned everyday. The shower screen in the bathroom was not fit for purpose. Everytime we had a shower, the bathroom floor was covered in about 2 inches of water. This was the same in both rooms we had, so expect to paddle when you need the loo!

The air con in the room was pretty poor as well... although it was September, it was mid 30's most days and the air con just didn't do the job. As well as not being that affective, it was noisey so you couldn't leave it on all night.

Staff were all very friendly. The swimming pool was very clean but cold! The animation team were a little annoying at times, but did leave you alone if you said no. The location of the hotel was great, with the pool overlooking the sea. We did find the tiles around the swimming pool very slippery, so be careful. There were plenty of sunbeds to go around most of the time, although we did notice people putting their towels on them and not coming back for about 6 hours.

The one downside to the hotel was the bar and the food. Only one bar with 2 staff on at any time. You always had to queue for a drink. The food was very repetative and not that great. Recommend that you get to dinner early as we went down late (8.30pm) one night and there was hardly anything left.

Overall, a nice hotel... food could be a lot better and I would say that the hotel was a high 3 star, rather than the 4 it was advertised at. Not sure i'd go back in a hurry, but I enjoyed our stay.

“Nice resort for Greeks and foreign visitors!”

The hotel is located reasonably close to the town of Rhodes. Service is excellent and staff very obliging. It is particularly good for couples with young children who wish to pass a large part of the day on the beach; there is good entertainment at night, too.

Room Tip: Had a suite, on the recently renewed top floor, with nice sea view!

“A week at Eden Roc”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

The hotel itself is in a beautiful situation if you like sea, country and quiet for holidays. I had a double bedded room for single use which was lovely. Clean, spacious with a good supply of towels and clean bedding. The bathroom had a great shower and full bath and there was a selection of complimentary toiletries. The staff are very friendly - and if you can learn just a few words of Greek, very appreciative of your effort. Costas at the bar and the night manager are just great

.However the food is not great. Breakfast was fine but it went rapidly downhill from there. Even a friendly cat turned her nose up at one offering I purloined from the buffet - and anyone who has visited the Greek islands knows that Greek cats will eat anything. The animation team was frankly just laughable- but they did make me laugh - even if that was not supposed to be. When you have listened to YMCA 6 times a day you get a bit cynical.

All in all, not a bad place to stay and quite friendly for a solo traveller such as myself.

“Recommended!”

We stayed one week at Eden Roc hotel last summer, "all inclusive".
If you look for a place to relax, enjoy the sun, swim, and a friendly athmosphere at the pool-and hotel area, we strongly recomend a visit to Eden Roc.
Room service was exellent. So was also the breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets, offering a good variety og hot and cold dishes. Staff in the restaurants and bar was friendly and very service-minded.
If you look for different places to eat every day, this is maybe not the place to stay, but the "all inclusive" concept here was a good "value for money".
