“Dissapointing”

I booked lamai wanta based on the trip advisor reviews. We were a family of 4 with 2 children aged 5 and 8. Whilst the rooms were really nice, very new and comfortable, the communal area was very tatty. The pool is small and in need of repair. All around this area, people had left rubbish and dirty plates and glasses. No one seemed to be cleaning up.The gardens are very average and around the pool there are weeds and unfinished steps. I would not recommend to families.

“lamai wanta”

Overall lamai wanta is a very nice hotel with its own character away from the typical international hotel chains.rooms are nothing special but clean and spacious enough for two. Room prices have gone up from 25 euros four years ago to 60-70 euro per night which is still a fair price compared to other hotels in lamai. There are two things which could be improved: one is the pool area which has no personnel around for keeping the area clean etc. Further the service in the coast cafe is very poor and the staff very unfriendly. However, I would consider to stay in this hotel again if going to samui.

“Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 April 2012

Great little hotel right in the centre of the action. Whilst its in the middle of the resort, its in well established gardens and we were in the block adjacent to the road, no noise. The rooms are spacious with a big comfortable bed with clean linen/towels daily. Free tea/coffee/water too daily. Rooms could do with a full length mirror and a couple of hooks but that's just being picky. Breakfast is served in the restaurant so you can eat whilst looking out on the ocean. Plenty to choose from including the usual continental choice as well as the more British choices too. Live music on a Saturday afternoon however isnt everyone's cup of tea! No problem with getting a sun lounger or pool towels - had a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Depends if you want privacy - we asked for a high room which was in block 4 and hence we overlooked...

“simple and reasonable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 March 2012

We stayed a week at lamai wanta. The hotel grounds are beautiful, with gardens and paths to the bungalows and rooms.
The hotel room is very basic, there is a bed, a fridge with water, and a very dark bathroom, but still they provided the best showers, with real water pressure:-)
The breakfast was very good, and the beach bar that opens at noon, provide a very good pineapple smoothie and iced cooffe!!
We came here after travelling in Vietnam,so Koh Samui was very much a culture shock , beacuse here you have sooo many tourists, and everything is made for tourists, dont be surprised if the locals greet you in some scandianvian language ( if you look scandinavian) but, it is a relatively small island, and the taxis are cheap, if you dont want to take your chances in a motorcycle and drive around the island your self. If you really want to go to Koh Samui and Lamai Beach, then this hotel is a reasonable choice.
