We are a coulple in our mid thirties and stayed at the Samui Amanda Resort in August. The Resort itself was lovely, rooms a bit basic but clean. . . . but absolutely nothing going on there. There were no other restaurants or shops in the immediate vicinity,a 20 minute stroll down a busy main road brought you to a small shop selling basic stuff and a beachside restaurant, that was sometimes open sometimes closed, which was a pain if you had decided not to dine at the hotel that evening & walked all the way down there. The food at the hotel was o.k, but got a bit tedious after a few days, staff were o.k, friendly enough. The beach was also a bit of a let down, no swimming - too shallow, no sunbathing really as the tide comes right in very early, Chaweng Beach is a lot nicer. We had to go into Chaweng most nights as the resort was far too boring to have spent 10 nights. We got the free bus supplied by the hotel, but this means you must be ready for 19.30, and a taxi back which averaged at 500 bahts. Tip. If going to Chaweng in the day, jump on the van type taxis, bit of a bumpy ride but only pennies.
wouldn't stay here again as there are far more nicer hotels for the same cost in a better location.
