Ideal winter brake for anybody North European. Sun is not garanteed, but hospitality can not be beaten. We are regular visitors for 10 years and love it.

The Jardin Tecina is a low rise resort on the cliffs overlooking the small town of Playa Santiago. It is set in extremely attractive and well tended gardens featuring many flowering shrubs. This gives the resort a very tropical feel.
We stayed in a Comfort Room which had a partial sea view along with a pleasant garden aspect. Our room was spacious and attractively furnished and being on the first floor our balcony provided a fair amount of privacy. We felt fortunate in having this room as many ground floor rooms were on public walkways giving little privacy.
We stayed on a half board basis and found the buffet fare to be of a generally good standard.
One feature of the Hotel is the lift which takes you down to sea level and a further swimming pool and restaurant. From here it is an easy walk into the centre of Playa Santiago.
Overall the Jardin Tecina is a very pleasant place to stay providing your room and its privacy is to your satisfaction.

After a long journey by airplane, bus, ferry and then bus again we finally arrived at Jardin Tecina. It was definitly worth the extra hours of traveling when you compare La Gomera with the other extremely touristified Canary islands.

The hotel`s location is on top of a cliff with an amazing view of el Teide on Tenerife, the ocean and Playa de Santiago. The gardens, the pool area and the general surroundings are well kept and clean. The rooms are however not as impressive as the rest of the hotel area. They are very basic but functional. We first had a room on the ground level which didn`t have a lot of privacy. All ground level rooms have a walking path outside, so everyone can see right in to your room if you dont have the curtains drawn. After having a reoccuring problem with ants in the room, we were upgraded to a superior ocean view room with balcony on the top floor, for which we are very thankful. It really made our vacation a whole lot more relaxing and comfortable.

During our stay we made a pros and cons list as follows:
PRO:
- Beautiful surroundings (both the hotel and the special Gomera nature) far away from the mass tourism.
- Great breakfast- and dinner buffet on Restaurante Principal. A lot to choose from.
- The salad buffet is so good that it deserves to be mentioned on its own. It`s quite basic, but oh so fresh. Some of the vegetables are from the hotel`s own gardens (!). Don`t forget to taste the "mojo" sauce.
- The daytime animation program is good. They offer everything from walks to small villages and excursions to their vegetable garden to rifle shooting. The animator (Francesco?) is very lively and kind. We especially recommend the walk to Pastrana (3,5 h) and the vegetable walk (1 h).
- The staff at the Restaurante Principal is very effective and hard working.
- Free WiFi in the reception and bar area.

CONS:
- The mattresses are hard and the "double beds" are actually two single beds put together which, during the night, slide apart from each other.
- The furniture in the room is a little out-dated.
- The rooms are not soundproofed. We even heard the neighbors snore.

All in all we`re satisfied with our stay and can recommend Jardin Tecina to everyone who wants a relaxing vacation in beautiful surroudings.

Just arrived home having spent a week at Jardin Tecina, weather was lovely, food good and a very relaxing week. The gardens at the hotel are well kept, the gardeners are working everyday to keep them nice to walk round. All the hotel areas are spotless. It's not a hotel for people whom struggle to walk, as it's all steep slopes and steps, but as the majority of guests are hikers there isn't a problem. It's a perfect place if you just want to lie on a sun bed and totally relax. There is nowhere to just stroll to, only a bit of a village (nothing there really) so you need to hire a car to see the island. We used the car hire at the hotel, it was very efficient. The staff at the hotel were all helpful, always very pleasant, nothing too much trouble if you needed anything. We were half board and the food in the Principle bar was very good, if you eat in the other restaurants there is a charge, we found the food best in the Priniple. The lunches at the pool bar are also ok. We booked a superior room with a sea view, but the only thing superior was the view! The maid we had ( Carmen) was excellent, she did our room everyday, clean towels etc. Also it was my Husbands birthday during our stay, the hotel gave him a card and put a bottle of cava in our fridge, which I thought was a nice touch. We had a lovely relaxing time, could not have had better staff, nice food , nice weather .Just need to update the rooms (that is the only bad comment) Stephanie & Stephen . Rochdale
