Just came back from a 4 nights stay at the hotel. Had been so disappointed that had to share our experience :(
Reservation:
We have prepaid for a family room. with 2 parents and 3 young children (2,5 and 8 y/o), we expected suitable accomodations. When arriving to the hotel, we were given two sets of keys to 2 rooms, but when we got to the rooms we discovered that these are simply 2 adjacent rooms (although mini-suites), with no connecting door !!! Can't really leave 3 kids on a room by themselves, can we? We went back to the reception, and they reluctantly moved us to a single two stories apartment with 2 rooms for us (A family room !), and for some reason kept complaining that they have to *upgrade* us !!!
Facilities:
The hotel is very nicely decorated, and is kept in a very good and clean shape. however, the public outdoors area is paved with shiny ceramic tiles, which proved to be a very dangerous adventure during our stay, since it was raining, and these tiles don't work well together with water, turning the floor to a deadly, slippery trap. We, as well as numerous other guests, had been flying off these floors repeatedly when trying to cross the path from the rooms to the main restaurants building.
Staff:
most of the staff do not really speak English. Getting answers to very simple questions proved itself to be an impossible task. The worst experience came after during one of the nights our s years old kid decided to throw up in bed. We quickly changed the bed linen, and put it in a neat pile in the bathroom. When the cleaning crew came the following morning, they called in the hotel manager !!! (not sure what they thought happened to the sheets, but maybe the fact that the kid's last meal had been hot dark chocolate drink might contain the clue :) The hotel manager started *shouting* at us aggressively and scolded at us, claiming that "We upgraded your room, you should have at least taken better care of the room !". This was a frightening and humilating experience :( He also did not agree to provide us his name when we asked for it, and just threatened to call our travel agent ?!?!
Food:
Coming to the dining room you get a feeling like you are there for the feast of your life. there is a great assortment of dishes and fruit and vegtables ! However, it took us only one meal to understand the difference between promise and reality... The very good looking fruit and vegtables had managed to cross the coarse line between "ripe" and "spoiled", and most of it is unedible. Needed to select them one by one to find something that can be eaten. As for the dishes - completely tasteless at best. Greek cusine is very good, and in all the restaurants we ate at we had great meals, but for some reason the same dishes at the hotel were a disaster. Also, drinks are no available. There are 3 full beverage machines at the dining room, with all the available Pepsi flavors, but none of them worked ! some of the days they were hooked in, but only vended soda water, without the flavoring part. The only working machine had some local flavors fo Cola, but when we tried it we discovered that it too was out of flavoring canisters, and vended tasteless, lukewarm soda.
I must mention that we stayed at the last week of the season, so it might have been the cause for the obvious lack of service (staff, food, ingredients), but if this is the case - the season should have ended a week earlier, when the supplies ran out !
being #1 in Milatos is a misleading statement, which we fell for this time. Milatos is a hell-hole with no other hotels ! There are probably many other much better hotels in much better locations nearby.
