“da Felicin is Magical!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

My friends and family just stayed at da Felicin hotel (again) in November. It is absolutely heaven. Set in the midst of the vineyards of Monforte d'Alba in the Barolo region in the north of Italy, Felicin's "Residence" suites (there's also the main inn) are cozy, modern, beautiful and have views of the hillsides and cobblestoned village streets. But it's the food prepared by chef/owner Nino Rocca that keeps us coming back for more. Nino uses the best of local meats and produce, always with his unique twist, to create world-class menus. I highly recommend it!

“A wonderful restaurant.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

On my Lange trips, I have been eating and staying here for over 21 years. It continues to get better. Giorgio and his beautiful wife handed over the reins to Nino and his beautiful wife some years ago and the quality has remained excellent.
From the wonderful pastas made fresh every morning to the Piemontese meats, all of the food is cooked with a sense of tradition and pride.

Nino has introduced many dishes with international accents in order to enlarge the tasting experience. On this trip, I was amazed at the new hotel high up on the hill with views to Switzerland!!! It is a wonder to sleep here as it is so quiet and everything is so sparkling new. I think less than two years.
Noticing the remark from one of the writers here, I must say that most people drain their outdoor pools and Jacuzzi in winter. It's October! Maybe people in Alaska don't have cement Jacuzzis that are destroyed when the water in them freezes. But then they can "see to Russia" from Alaska.
I had a Barolo from Cavalloto this time that matched wonderfully the carne crudo. This producer is making wonderful juice. The next day I found his chardonnay made a fine pairing with the codfish salad starter.

So, I can not wait to go back to enjoy this great restaurant and hotel.

“poor service rude”

The hotel is stale, it has grown too big the staff is tired and uncaring. An old man told us how and when to drink our coffee. Food service was only attentive to those buying expensive wine, the staff were arrogant and rude. Jacuzzi was drained and the pool was slimy, doors and windows barely opened. The views from the balcony were nice and the room was quiet. They should have stayed a small family style hotel, i would never stay there again.

Room Tip: ask for a view dont ask for maps or assistance they get very rude and are "too busy"

“STUNNING VIEWS”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

Nice rooms above the restaurant plus the Residence, 8 minutes walk the other side of the main square. We felt we should have known that the pool was seperate to the main building (it was also freezing cold). Generally very comfortable, we felt it would have been nicer with a lounge/bar area where you could get a drink in the evening without eating. Rooms and bathrooms well fitted out and all with that stunning view. Like the restaurant, not cheap but a lovely village to stay in for 2/3 days.

“Excellent food and wine, friendly and helful service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 April 2011

We had a memorable stay, memorable food and service. The service at the restaurant was excellent, so was the food and the wine. We had two apartments with balconies overlooking the valley with the Alps covered in snow in the distance. The onwer couldn't be more friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent.
