The Hamlet is isolated (a 2 kilometre drive on a unpaved road, which undulates and we were told about prior to arrival). But the view from this beautifully restored Hamlet is well worth the 4 minute drive. Each property is beautifully restored and the attention to detail is complete. We have been renting accommodation in Tuscany and Umbria for over 20 years and whilst the accommodation has been getting better (flushing toilets etc) over the last 10, non compare to Borgo di Vagli. The management and staff are friendly, polite and very helpful. And the food in the trattoria is some of the best I have tasted in the area. Albeit pricey but well worth eating 2 or 3 times a week if you can manage it. Pizza night on a Monday is very popular so book in on arrival, we stayed for 2 weeks and missed out on first week. The Hamlets location is ideal for day excursions to Cortona, lake trasemeno, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Assisi, Perugia, Siena. And you can take a train from Cortona to Florence in an hour. Although the resort is a Club residence (timeshare) we were never hassled to attend a presentation, but did speak to the project manager Lee Cogher who we purchase a week from so we could return each year. The Hamlet's clientele are like minded with an academic background and generally well travelled.
We could strongly recommend a true Tuscan experience at Borgo di Vagli.
