“It was the highlight of our tour!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2009

Read the negative review of Villa Pasquini and all I can say is that some people are never happy with anything! Our group had such a wonderful time at the Villa that we have all shared our memories with friends who were not able to attend our trip! The Villa itself is a picture-perfect building at the top of a hill, overlooking the town of Montecatini. The drive up to the Villa was breathtaking. When we arrived at the top, we were met with a drink and a small bite to eat, but the view was the best! Everywhere we looked, we saw the gorgeous hillsides and town below. We happened to luckily have a full moon that night and as we were leaving, the moonlight lit up the entire valley and town below. It was such a special moment! We loved the food, wine and entertainment. It gave everyone a taste of Tuscany and we were able to sample food which some of us had never had before. Everything was wonderful! We kept ordering more olives which grew in the area and were delicious! They disappeared each time another bowl was brought out! The servers were wonderful and prompt with our requests. The food was terrific and the cream cake which we had for dessert was mouth-watering! Can't imagine someone not thoroughly enjoying it! Maybe the negative review was done by one of those high-faluting reviewers from a big city but our group loved each and every minute at the Villa!!

“Memorable Evening!”

I have to disagree with one of the previous reviewers on this venue. We were with a small tour group (Cosmos) that stayed in Montecatini four nights. The evening we spent at Villa Pasquini was fantastic. The countryside was breathtaking, and the villa was very picturesque. Although we did not see the B&B part of the villa, in fairness we were there for the dinner only. The reception was warm with pre-dinner drinks served outside the entrance. Yes, there were just two bowls of "nibbles", but we were not there to stuff ourselves with nibbles. The dinner was the star of the evening. The area where we dined was nicely done and not crowded at all on the night we were there. Maybe ten tables full of guests were in attendance. The entertainer was fantastic. He had a good voice, and his musical renditions of recognizable Italian music were very entertaining. While he was doing his thing, we were treated to many courses of wonderful food starting with appetizers and ending with dessert and coffee. Wine and bottled water were definitely free-flowing. We enjoyed both the food and the wine. Guests laughed, danced, sang and had from what I could see a wonderful time. We were pleasantly surprised to get such a full evening of food and entertainment for 43 Euro and will remember it fondly as one of the true highlights of our one week in Italy.

Our tour group enjoyed the same evening at the Villa Pasquini as the very unhappy reviewer in June. The drive and the views were breathtaking, as were the grounds of the villa. The roses were huge and screaming with vibrant colors. We enjoyed a brief visit to the wedding chapel, and the fabulous (sorry to disagree) 5 course Italian dinner. The wine and a variety of alcohol was freely flowing, and food just kept coming. We were treated to truly authentic Italian country fare. Risotto, antipasto, soups, bruschetta.....etc. If you want a pizza- stay home. The "one man band", their singer and entertainer sang for hours, non stop. We danced. It was pleasant, fun and enjoyable. We are a well travelled group, and had been in Europe and Italy for well over 3 weeks. This beautiful moonlit evening was the highlight of our trip.

“Disappointing - Rip Off”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 June 2009

The Villa Pasquini Brochure showed a beautiful villa with banquet room with chrystal chandeliers. The menu was for a 5-course dinner. The charge was 50 euro.
Our group arrived at Villa Pasquini. At the door of the Villa we were given a drink of either wine or orange for those who did not take alcohol and there were two little bowls of nibbles. We were then shown into a purpose-built-for-tour-groups conservatory where there were tables set for about 100 people. We did not see inside the Villa at all. The first course was "a typical Tuscan dish" which consisted of a slice of crusty bread with chutney on it. A small slice of hard toast with mushroom pate on it. A slice of cheese and a slice of ham. Course 2 was soup which was quite good. Course 3 was a small piece of tough chicken, half a sausage and about six cubes of fried potato. About 10 minutes later a waiter came around with some meat asking if anyone wanted some. The little bit of meat was very touch and some of it was uncooked. About 10 minutes later the waiter came around with a small plate of lettuce (looked unfresh) which most people declined. Course 4 was a piece of frozen cream cake which had just been taken out of the freezer. Course 5 was a tiny cup of coffee. There was a singer at a keyboard who gave some terrible renderings of Lauda Thermoble, etc. But for the participation of the tour group in dancing and making some fun it would have been a disaster.
It was very bad value for money and I would advise any one against it.

“A charming family-run villa in tuscany with excellent food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2005

This place is something very special for us; we chose to marry here.
Villa Pasquini is a 300-year old, noble and quietly beautiful house; perfect for romantic slow-travelers and all gourmets or lovers of a genuine antique surrounding in good style.
This certainly is the place to go to when you want to be only half an hours drive away from Florence but still enjoy the tuscan landscape, biologically homemade foods and good wine at a real bargain price.
The driveway to the villa is a tuscan cypress alley, the old house standing tall in classic colours of siennese yellow with green shutters that open up on a lovely view of the Valdinievole valleys and Montecatini Alto up on the mountain, as well as the surrounding villages Massa, Cozzile and Buggiano.
If you care to go up there, prepare for fantastic postcard views.
Our wedding coach drive, which took us down from Massa to the villa via old stonewalled roads, with the inhabitants on the way wishing us luck all the way down, was an overwhelming experience.
Signor Pier Luigi and his sister Maria Cristina Innocenti personally took care of everything, all we needed was our papers ready. We felt extremely comfortable although marrying abroad, due to our extremely friendly hosts and their very personal care of their guests. They both speak excellent english and german as well.
We stayed for a week in our large wedding suite No. 1 with its canopy bed and ensuite bathroom complete with a frescoe on the wall and even a maids room to it... where my actual bridesmaids dressed themselves up and your own personal butler might sleep too.
We took the half-pension with a good strong (unusually so for Italy) breakfast and an excellent five-course evening meal every day and we very much enjoyed the biological house wine from the villas own grounds, but there is also a good choice of other tuscan wines on the list.
The wedding dinner consisted of quite amazing twelve... fine courses!
Signor Innocenti faxed the menue to us beforehand, we thought it was to choose from twelve different dishes until we realised what awaited us.

Villa Pasquini is a three storey hotel with 24 rooms, it has no elevator or air-conditioning but the original staircase leads you up to the large, antique rooms and an elegant restaurant with its own adjoining terrace from which you can watch newly wed couples coming up in their carriages to celebrate every other day, or just have a nice cool drink before dinner starts inside.
This would be the only drawback, that is, if you do not care for happy italian wedding guests on the lower terrace surrounding the villa.
We soon found out that the parties being held in the adjoining terrace pavillion with much cheerful singing and dancing lasted at most until midnight and did not really disturb us, though a change of music might be a good idea at some time, perhaps.
Our idea was to enjoy our meal and then go down the few kilometers to belle epoque Montecatini Terme (where Anita Loos, writer of "Gentlemen prefer blondes" used to relax in the roaring twenties) and have our coffee and grappa at the towns best cafe on those wedding party nights. Then return to the quiet house afterwards to sit a while in the garden chairs under palm trees seeing the lights of Florence in the distance.

We will keep returning to this house every year, we just love it!
