“Best Hotel for the Price”

We were looking for an economical place to stay for a few days in Tobago. Got the room at Half Moon Blue Hotel for about $80 US per night after a 40% off sale. This included free parking, as we rented a car at the airport.

Rate also included wireless internet and free breakfast at Cafe Havana Bar and Restaurant (a restaurant associated with Bacolet Beach Club Hotel, a sister hotel, located across the street).

As guests of Half Moon Blue Hotel, we were allowed to use all of the facilities at Bacolet Beach Club Hotel, which has a great pool overlooking the bay and a small private beach. This beach is one of the best beaches on the island.

Drinks at the The RoK (bar associated with Bacolet Beach Club Hotel) were $9 US each and could be billed to the room at Half Moon Blue Hotel.

A bartender at the RoK, a great guy from the Philippines, is a budding photographer and takes pictures for couples getting married at the hotel.

In addition, meals at Cafe Havana Bar and Restaurant could also be billed to the room. This is a high end restaurant with great drinks ($9 US) - go for happy hour for a 50% discount.

The only negative was that the internet went down a few times a day. Staff is helpful and this is a bargain because rooms at Bacolet Beach Club Hotel were about $140 US per night.

The tourist season is just beginning, thus prices will rise to reflect increase demand.

“The Perfect Honeymoon”

I got back from my perfect honeymoon a few weeks ago. It was perfect for 2 reasons – we went to Tobago, a tropical paradise and stayed at Half Moon Blue. Tobago is just a short flight away but it is a different world. A balmy climate, golden beaches, warm waters, tons of things to see and do make it the place to forget the rest of the world and enjoy the beginning of your new life.
And Half Moon Blue is the perfect place to stay. It’s a small luxury resort set in tropical gardens with an unbeatable romantic atmosphere. The inviting Caribbean décor and attentive yet discreet staff combine to give you the luxury and privacy you need. Just be careful of the great food. I’ve been on a diet ever since I came back.

“Great Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2011

I stayed at this hotel for 3 days and really liked it. It's a great place for individuals wanting some peace and quiet. It was comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. The views from the pool were gorgeous. Staff was very helpful and courteous. We also had access to the Bacolet Bay Beach Club which was a huge plus since it meant we had access to the beach. The only downside is that the only restaurant nearby is Cafe Havana, which is pricey. Other food options are available in Scarborough which is about a 15 minute walk.

Room Tip: we were able to get a great rate through hotel.com

“something special”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

We the hotel was something special.. our room was on the ground floor but bacause it was on a hill we had a great view of Bacolet Bay with beautiful sunset everynight. the verander was large with really nice funiture and lots of lovely cushions, tropical birds even hummingbirds Bluejays etc. The was a nice little pool next to our building but we used it only once because the beach was so nice.
The breakfast was served by a very friendly girl who could not do enough for us the food was the best and kept us going all day there was so much.
The bar by the beach was in a kind of tree house that served nice cocktails and lunch which the barman brought down from the restaurant for us..
The was a little shop around the corner just passed the Cotton House nest door that sold beer which we keep in our fridge and we walked into Scarborough a few times there was a pizza restaurant come bar next door in town but not much else. People in Tobago are very polite and friendly and we felt safe everywhere. We went by taxi to a few other beachs and the "Sunday School" which is every sunday night, which seems like everybody one the Island seems to go to. We went a bit early 9pm as it was just starting but had some great street bbq fish which was sold in the street. Sunday started kicking off about 11pm the whole village was dancing live street bands dj's playing raggae.. it was really great.

Room Tip: I would recommend to stay full board as we ate elsewhere and the Havana restaurant at the hotel had...

“Stylish chic hotel with great views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 April 2011

The Half Moon Blue was excellent...Everything was so easy and taken care of by the discreet but efficient staff. We had a Junior Penthouse room which had the two things i value most in a hotel - a great bed and a great shower. The views from the balcony/terrace were terrific and the comfy furniture just right. Breakfast was taken in the local Cafe Havana where the food was first class and the service friendly. I would not recommend the Havana for dinner - it's way over priced, the service is poor and you leave feeling ripped off after the extra service and taxes are put on and it's converted from TT$ to US$!
I thoroughly recommend the Half Moon Blue!

Room Tip: The Blue Crab restaurant is highly recommended
