“Arrived Thursday wanted to go home by day 4, but couldn't!!”

Please please read this to avoid disappointment, if only we had taken notice of the comments on trip advisor before we booked.
Our experience
1 Adults only does not necessarily mean that, as during our stay 2 children were present for 2 nights this was because their father was attending a conference at the hotel! The tour operator we booked with doesn’t seem to grasp the understanding of their adults’ only statement on the website / brochure, nor did the hotel management.
2 The spa was not open at weekends and it was only after several conversations that we were able to receive the 12 complementary treatments.
3 The gym equipment was unsafe and some CV equipment didn't even work, however according to our tour operator new equipment is now in the gym, I do hope so, and I’d be very interested to know whether this is actually the case.
4 A number of the staff were just plain rude and I felt very uncomfortable asking for a drink in the Breezes bar or asking for assistance at reception.
5 Due to problems with electric sockets we had to move rooms but were shown 2 other rooms which also had sockets that were hang off the wall or didn't work.
6 Hotel security was poor in our view and we felt vulnerable.
There are far too many negative comments to write on this website but just to say we sent a 3 page letter to our tour operator.

“Had a good time..”

Did not pick this hotel it was a birthday gift for my husband..Spend a short stay at the hotel and I found it was clean and staff friendly..I was surprised by the staff's fun loving behavior which was displayed with the complimentary birthday cake placed in my room while i was out.. I found it very thoughtful. During my stay the hotel was in constant repair with service staff quietly fixing roofs etc but he did not dampen my stay in any way.. My only issue with the hotel was the food.. It was the worse i have consumed in a while..it lacked flavor...So my advice is stay in the hotel use the facilities and eat outside.Their is a lovely mini mall at the end of Shivan Road which has a few good eating options.

“Treating my boo....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2011

The ratings I got was not what I met. The hotel is nice but not exceptional. I really expected more. We had a room at first with a very nice beach view and due to the hotel experiencing 'hot water' problems we were relocated to another room next door on another block. I appreciate the move but I did prefer the previous location and view. My gf advised me that for waiting and hr before we were relocated we should've been compensated with complimentary wine or breakfast at least from the hotel. The room was not spectacular but nice. Persons were very friendly and my bf and I appreciate that and commend them for their hospitality. Few touches and inspections should be done to improve the place....has a lot of potential and great ratings from locals. They should take the criticisms and try to work on improvements.

Room Tip: Ocean View rooms are better, but thats once they have hot water accessible.

I spent 14 nights at this hotel with friends to celebrate my husband's birthday. I noted this on our booking and thought that the hotel would have made some effort. The 4 of us outnumbered the staff who tried there best but we were saddened by the lack of entertainment
and choice of meals. Although we enjoyed our stay on Tobago the wildlife near the pool was rather worrying.

I spent one night at Le Grand, and I am glad it was just one night cause I could not have handled more than that. I must commend and criticise in these areas

1) My party arrived early and was allowed to check in before our stipulated check in time. However, we were left to search the entire compound for our rooms in the rain since it seems they only had one staff member designated to direct us to the rooms and they were at another part of the hotel and didn't want to come through the rain. (seems umbrellas don't exist at Le Grand Courland).

2) After about a half hour search of climbing stairs, walking through the rain, making circles, asking housekeepers for direction while carrying our luggage. We found our rooms. The room was inviting. AC worked fine, a nicely made bed and a lovely sea view. However, out of the 12 channels on the television all was distorted and unable to look at. Also, when I tried closing back the sliding glass at night, it was stuck.

3) At 3pm we went down for afternoon tea. The bartender seemed she wasn't interested in serving us. At one point there was no one at the bar to serve us. After we placed the request for tea which was on our All Inclusive package. To my disappointment, an unappealing tea plate of a tiny little piece of sandwich and thin slice of sweat bread was given to us.

4) After we went to relax by the pool area. The lounge chairs were wet so we looked for someone to wipe them for us. They gave us a wet piece of cloth to do it ourselves. We didn't have any problem doing it ourselves at least they could have given us a dry piece of cloth.

5) Dinner was great, food was exceptional. However we never had breakfast cause it arrived late and we had to leave to attend to other engagements. This was poor since the hotel had alot of business guests and most had to leave to by 8am to attend to business.

I went on a business trip this visit, I usually go Tobago on vacation and I know Le Grand would not be my choice.
