We selected this hotel based on the excellent reviews and were not disappointed. We hope to return some time. The location is just far enough off the main drag that it is very quiet. We used this as a base to enjoy the beach (about a ten minute walk with access included in the room price that we selected) but close enough that we could travel into Ravenna to see the mosaics (worth the trip BTW). We took the bus into Ravenna to avoid traffic and parking hassles - that worked out well. As for the hotel, it seems that many families come year after year and meet their summer vacation friends - a good sign. Our room was very clean and the air conditioning worked very well (and was surprisingly quiet). The room was not spacious but we did not expect or need a larger room. We enjoyed the half-board dinners that were also included in the room price option we selected. Overall, the hotel, beach, meal package was good value for money. The area itself was busy but not overrun by tourists as some parts of Italy are at this time of year.
Only two negative comments:
- The breakfast buffet had run out of several items and the staff did not appear to have any intention to replenish them. We went a little earlier the second morning, just in time to get some pastries, before they seem to have run out again. I would make a similar observation about the salad/antipasti buffet at the evening meal and guests tended to 'rush' the table as a result.
- The walls are not very thick so we did hear our neighbours a few times.
- La Tavernetta Hotel
