“A one day disaster”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

This is one place that I would not recommend to people I know as it is shabby and the room was not clean. The reception area is fine and that's when one stops the praise. The service at the restaurant is slow despite the fact that there was only few visitors to the place. The car park is surrounded with stone walls that had jagged edges of stone sticking out of the walls. Resulting in a costly body repair work to my wife's 09 registration car. The bathroom was well below standard and I wouldn't feel clean having a shower in it. The location of the hotel is very nice but the place has been allowed to go into decay.

“Good location but not a great experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

The location is beautiful with water views and it is close to some excellent attractions. The hotel itself is showing signs of age and neglect and the room was not very clean. Our room for example had 2 chairs and both were unsafe to sit on as the legs were coming apart. This should have been seen when the room was cleaned because as soon as you picked up the chair it wobbled and the legs were obviously loose. Also the toilet was not fixed to the floor, which made for an interesting experience and the bathroom exhaust fan didn't work.
The staff did fix the toilet and replaced the chairs after we had pointed this out but you sort of expect the room to be ready for you to use when you move in, not ready for you to check for faults.
The town is lovely and if we return we will certainly visit Liscannor but will stay somewhere else.

“Great hotel for ouw Wedding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

I have to thank Logue family, Michelle the manager and all the brilliant staff for making our wedding day so unforgettable. Sincere thanks to the chefs who were working on the night. Really the food was delicious, it was so well presented, and the staff were so obliging to our guests.

The rooms , while maybe a little dated , were clean and comfortable, with thoughtful little extras like fresh fruit and flowers added for us. The views over the pier towards Lahinch were beautiful. We enjoyed drinks on the decking, overlooking the pretty little pier.

For value for money, atmosphere, and convenience; this hotel was tops. The service really impressed us most. Thank you all so very much.

The location was great. It was so lovely to get married in the local church and then just stroll down the village to the pier for photos, while our guests enjoyed the many great pubs in the village.

Some of our guests from abroad who were holidaying in Ireland even returned to stay in the hotel for the remaining days of their holiday.

“Good Value, Across From Vaughans Anchor Inn”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

I stayed here about 10 years ago and thought the place should be torn down. It has been cleaned up a lot. Great showers, clean rooms and good views. Best of all, it is across the street from Vaughans Anchor Inn - excellent (but expensive) food in Liscannor.

Room Tip: Ask for bay view.

“Creeped out in Clare!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

We arrived to Liscannor late in the evening on a trip up the west coast staying only for 1 night. On approach the hotel seemed ok from the outside and check-in was fine, the staff pleasant. There was a bit of a smell about the reception but just put that down to being beside the sea. We were on the first floor but used the lift as we both had bags, the lift seemed to bounce quite alot when we got in and didn't feel very safe, so we didn't use it again afterwards.
We opened the door to our room and were hit by an overpowering smell it was like a damp or mouldy smell, similar to the smell downstairs but worse. The room decor was very dated and there was no enamel on the bath, I did not want to shower there but my fiance did and said that the shower was not great, the pressure was poor and wouldn't do much for washing my hair. Everything just felt dirty, smelly and dated but not bad enough to leave given that we had paid in full in advance and were only staying one night.
We headed over to Vaughans restaurant for an amazing dinner, but on return to the hotel it just felt really creepy, there were no other guests to be seen at all, we had a drink in the bar but saw no-one else apart from the bar man and it was only just after 10pm. We returned to our damp room and felt like we were in The Shining.
After a restless nights sleep we awoke to the room being very stuffy and the curtains stuck to the window with condensation. We went for breakfast, standards were poor and the place dirty. The hot food was self service (which is fine) however I had to pick up 3 plates before getting to a clean one.
We couldn't wait to get out of the place and would definitely not stay there again, a clean B&B would have been worth much more than our stay there.
