We just returned from the Verandah February 12th. This was our fourth visit, and we still love the place. Noticed a few improvements since last year. Nice mini golf course, more beach toys and hobies, kayaks, beach chairs and sails. Even though the hotel was booked full, there were always beach chairs available. Great quiet adult pool with wi-fi. If you want wi-fi in your room, this will cost you $50, but it works well. Many scheduled activities, e.g., beach cricket, beach soccer, volleyball, cooking lesson (making Antiguan fungi), water aerobics, tennis lessons, hobie sailing and windsurfing lessons at no extra cost, nature walks to Devil's Bridge, ping pong, shuffleboard, foosball, and a Pirate's Den for teens with Wii. The physical outlay of the resort is beautiful. Units are large and built on rocks with views; all have balconies. The walkways are lined with palm and banana trees, lots of hibiscus flowers, mangroves surrounding the beaches. Four restaurants: Nicole's elegant dining (love the piano player), Seabreeze buffet style, Buccaneers sit down casual, and the beach bar small and cozy. Reservations are needed for Nicole's and Buccaneers. Great drinks and good food. The buffet has an overwhelming variety in choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My compliments to the chef for his international dinners, considering the many nationalities visiting. Remember that 90% of all food in Antigua has to be imported. Entertainment at night is usually a small band, which tends to get rather loud. The atmosphere depends a lot on the guests. Families with small children, teenagers, honeymooners, and the more mature couples.
