My only complaint about the Hotel Terme di Saturnia is that I only had 2 days to bask in its glory.
The hotel is unlike any place I have ever been. Everything has been thought of, from the luscious terry cloth robes provided at check in to the sumptuous array of foods for any diet available at all meals.
The thermal pools themselves are almost spiritual. The water has a magical quality to it that leaves you feeling divine. Loaded with plankton and minerals from the underground source, the thermal waters are incredibly healing.
The food is superb and on par with 4 star restaurants we ate at in other areas of Italy. We recommend going for the full board meal plan - you won't get bored with the food as the menu changes daily.
My husband and I stayed at the hotel for 2 days in October of 2004 with our 80 year old grandmother. We had 2 rooms just down the hall from each other. It was divine.
There are endless seas of places to relax, both indoors and out. Every night there is live music in the bar for the enjoyment of all.
My husband and I each got a massage while there. The both leaned towards the "relaxation" style, moreso than "deep tissue", so if you want a deep tissue massage, let someone know in advance.
All of the hotel desk staff members spoke excellent english, but none of the spa staff did, so make sure you know the words for "harder" and "softer". We didn't so we just had to take what we got :)
We will definitely be returning to Hotel Terme di Saturnia - this time for at least a week!
While you're there, make sure to visit nearby Sovana and the Etruscan catacombs - they're about 20 minutes up the road and well worth the trip.
