“Villa Tacchi and the Palladian Villas”

Hotel had spacious clean rooms and nice grounds. Only three stories tall so the numerous wedding, anniversary, business gathering or some other groups, using the hotel constantly, played loud music and had big parties while we were trying to sleep. The hotel allowed the parties to spread out in front and back of the hotel, where there was also a road wiith noisy cars. This was not a quiet location, thooug it should have been in such a peaceful countryside. The management not only didn't think of this in advance, but has made no effort to take care of this.
We ate at a very non-busy but beautiful local restauant called Ca Di Vino. The propietor and his wife deserve to have everyone visiting Vicenza go there. The food was elegant and reasonably priced, given that the euro has gone to the moon.

This was an excellent place from which to visit all the Palladian Villas, as long as you use a GPS (I brought mine from home and have a disc (call me) with roads of Italy and Greece.

“no sleep”

this hotel had large rooms and nice grounds. They, unfortunately, had a wedding, anniversary, business gathering or some other group using the hotel constantly. They played loud music and had big parties for people while we were trying to sleep. People were parked all up and down the drive and in the lot. Not a quiet location. We never ate in the restaurant because it was never open when we needed to eat. The bar is for their "parites" only so you can't go down and have a drink. I felt like I was intruding on their party goers. Theyb also wanted to charge uf for using the phone in our room. I would never stay here again. The sink made strange noises at night as well. We ate at the Fuego restaurant in the neighboring town from previous recommendations on this site and it was fabulous. We also ate at a restaurnant called Ca' Divino that was very nice and had a great meal there...it's on via Marosticana, 8/A...telephone 0444.460136. I would stay in Padua if I had it to do over.

“excellent value”

The hotel is in a wonderful historic building surrounded by a nice park. It is a great base to explore the Veneto region by car. The pool wasn't open when we were there, but should be a great thing in the hot months to relax. Breakfast was not exciting, okay for Italian standards. The room was huge and bathroom very nice marble and clean. Staff was okay.
Overall we found this hotel to be extremely good value for the ambience and charm of the building, park and room.
Make sure you get you directions before trying to find the place.

“Could be truly great but management need to get a grip on service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2007

This hotel is in a historic building set amidst lovely gardens in the Veneto country side. Our room [a junior suite] was simply huge and our teenage son had a very nice single room. Both rooms were clean and very quiet and peaceful. Food in the restuarant was fresh and enjoyable with a three course menu of the day [with several chocies for each course] at 30 Euros. Decent and well priced wine list. There was a very attractive, well sized pool and during our visit in August there was not problem getting sun beds etc. Very well located for trips to Vicenza, Verona Asolo etc.

Our main reservation was the service, and the atmosphere that this style of service afforded. No one was rude to us but it all felt very disconnected and as if staff were entirely indifferent to guests. In the restuarant guests would arrive and not be greeted hence leaving them in middle of room not sure where to sit. The serving staff often all disappeared from the dining room for five or ten minutes at a time thus leaving guests who wanted extra drinks or other needs unattended. On several days our rooms were not cleaned by mid afternoon even if we had been out all day. Despite the fact that there was a lunch menu clearly displayed and the bar that was said to be open all day if you wanted lunch there was an air of slight surprise and you felt they were offering you a bit of a favour by laying up a table. Room service breakfast or any other meal was ruled out as an option for us as the room details stated this was an extra 10 euros per person [ie 30 Euros for a family of three] which seemed an unduly high premium and infinitely higher than other 4 or 5 star Italian hotels we styaed in.

This hotel could be really great if management got a grip on the service and added a bit of style. At the moment it is still worth thinking about for a short stay as there were many positive aspects.

“Enjoyable weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2007

Booked this having seen earlier reviews and had an enjoyable weekend tacked on after a business trip.
Good base for visiting Vicenza and Palladian villas in the Colli Berici.
Hotel was very smart and good value at weekend when price was lower. We ate in the restaurant on the Saturday with Italian friends. The food was very good, not cheap but not too expensive either. There were plenty in there that night but only one couple in there when we looked in on the Friday night.
Breakfast was very ordinary.
Agree with another review here - worth eating at the Fuego in Gazzo one night. While they do pasta, meat, etc. most seem to go for the pizzas from the proper wood oven - excellent and very large - ask for the "baby" version if you want a normal size!
Great little gelateria in the centre of Gazzo a couple of minutes walk from the Fuego. Try the rose-water flavour if they have it, like turkish delight ice cream - fantastic.
